Assembly Theatre Accuses Assembly Fringe of 'Passing Off'

William Burdett-Coutts, the artistic director of Assembly Theatre, the organisation which ran Fringe shows at the Assembly Rooms before moving to George Square due to the building's refurbishment in 2010, has suggested that Assembly Fringe is 'passing off'. As previously reported in BroadwayWorld, the Assembly Fringe will be running shows in the Assembly Rooms this year from July onwards.

The UK première of the award-winning musical THRILL ME: The Leopold & Loeb Story, with book, music and lyrics by Stephen Dolginoff, will be at the Tristan Bates Theatre, Tower Street,WC2 for a four-week season from Tuesday 5 April until Saturday 30 April 2011, starring George Maguire as Richard Loeb and Jye Frasca as Nathan Leopold and with off-stage dialogue recorded by Les Dennis, Patricia Quinn and Lee Mead.

Making its London premiere, Ayckbourn's sharp and timely comedy about the cult of celebrity will be performed for four weeks at the Jermyn Street Theatre, with previews from February 22nd 2011. First performed at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in 2004, Drowning on Dry Land will run until March 19th, with a press night on February 24th.

UK HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 Tour Shutters Three Months Early; Now Closes 2/27

Whatsonstage.com is reporting that the UK tour of High School Musical 2: Live on Stage will close three months early. The production, a follow-up to the wildly successful original High School Musical, was initially scheduled to close on 29 May, 2010 after launching at London's New Wimbledon Theatre on 22 August. It will now take its final bow on 27 February, 2010.
Henry Winkler Will Guest Star on 2nd Season of 'Royal Pains' this Summer

Stage, film, and television star Henry Winkler will join the cast of USA's 'Royal Pains' in its second summer season. Winkler will join the cast in a major role next season as Eddie R. Lawson, father of the show's two lead characters Hank and Evan Lawson, played by Mark Feuerstein and Evan Paulo Costanzo respectively. It was revealed at the end of the first season that Winkler's would be character stole all of the money from his sons' business, HankMed. The show will air on Thursdays on USA during the summer. A premiere date and time slot have yet to be announced.

Henry Winkler is currently starring in his fourth annual production of PETER PAN in Liverpool; however, this is not the typical production of PETER PAN. This production is what's known to English audiences as a pantomime, which means, as described by the New York Times, 'recastings of old children's stories with vaudeville, audience participation, puns, singing and cross-dressing.'
