Dragon's Eye Theatre to Debut A MYSTERY? at FringeArts, 9/7-22

Dragon's Eye Theatre, a Philadelphia ensemble committed to creating theatrical experiences that celebrate the power of imagination for audiences of all ages and backgrounds, presents A Mystery? in the 2013 Philly Fringe Festival. When a group of friends discovers something unusual, they form a secret society to tackle the case and enlist the audience to help them. The creators of sold-out Fringe 2012 hit Seek and Hide bring a new interactive adventure through Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse that invites audiences to use their imaginations alongside the actors. This show is best enjoyed by audience members ages 4 to 104.

Culture Project's WOMEN CENTER STAGE 2013 Festival Kicks Off Today

Culture Project dives into the summer with the Women Center Stage 2013 Festival, today, July 8 - August 3, 2013 at the newly named Lynn Redgrave Theater (45 Bleecker Street). The month long Festival will feature works written, directed and produced entirely by women, including work by Lynn Redgrave (Shakespeare For My Father), Staceyann Chin (Def Poetry Jam on Broadway), Dael Orlandersmith (Yellowman, Beauty's Daughter), Lucy Alibar (Beasts of the Southern Wild), Dominique Morriseau (Detroit '67), Leila Buck (In The Crossing), and Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai ('Russell Simmon Presents HBO Def Poetry'), directors Gaye-Taylor Upchurch (Bethany, Harper Regan), Jackson Gay (Collapse) and Nicole A. Watson (2013 Drama League Directing Fellow), poetry composed by Afghan women collected by Guggenheim Fellow Eliza Griswold, and an evening written by girls ages 10-18 from Girl Be Heard, viBe Theater Experience, Urban Word NYC and the Prospect Theater Summer Teen Intensive.

New Georges Presents the World Premiere of GOLDOR $ MYTHYKA: A HERO IS BORN, Beginning 4/3

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Producing Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Deputy Artistic Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director) will present the World Premiere of Lynn Rosen's (Apple Cove with Women's Project) GOLDOR $ MYTHYKA: A HERO IS BORN directed by Shana Gold (Food and Fadwa with New York Theatre Workshop) April 3-27 at The New Ohio Theatre (154 Christopher Street between Greenwich and Washington). Casting will be announced on Friday, February 22. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 1.

Noor Theatre and the Center for Architecture present Building ANew: An Evening of Short Plays. This one-night only concert-style reading will feature Noor's first commissioned plays from award-winning writers including Jacob Kader, Ismail Khalidi, Mona Mansour, Tala Manassah, Sam Neave, Daria Polatin, Heather Raffo, and Najla Said. The event will be presented in conjunction with the Center for Architecture's current Middle Eastern exhibitions onFriday, March 16th at 7:00 pm.

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, will present 'THE GERM PROJECT,' featuring the work of playwrights Kara Lee Corthron (directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni), Lynn Rosen (directed by Shoshana Gold), Kathryn Walat (directed by Portia Krieger), and Anna Ziegler (directed by Beatrice Terry). The four 'germs' of full-length plays of scope and adventure commissioned by New Georges for this project will be presented together, fully produced, in a cohesive and satisfying ninety-minute intermission-less evening. There will be a connective thread to the pieces that will take place with visuals and storytelling. 'THE GERM PROJECT' will be performed at 3LD Art & Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street (just south of Rector). Previews will begin on June 11, and the official Opening Night will be Monday, June 20 at 8:00 p.m. Performances will run through July 9.
