Revived again, the touring favourite Hairspray is again packing out theatres across the country. This new production delivers some impressive performances and a fun evening, if not quite living up to dancing in the aisles quality of the West End original.
The international smash hit musical comedy Hairspray the Musical returns in a brand new production, touring the UK from September 2015. Baltimore, 1962. Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, and into the heart of teen idol Link Larkin. Tracy's audition makes her a local star and soon she is using her new-found fame to fight for integration. But can she win equality - and Link's heart - without denting her 'do? Matthew Bourne's THE CAR MAN begins its limited 16 week tour this evening at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley before visiting Wimbledon, Newcastle, High Wycombe, Bristol, Salford, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Leicester, Sheffield and ending with a four week summer season at Sadler's Wells from 14 July to 9 August. A talented group of 22 young dancers aged 10 - 23 from across London will take to the Sadler's Wells stage to perform in Matthew Bourne's production of Lord of the Flies, from today 8 - 11 October 2014, alongside professional dancers from New Adventures.
This weekend saw a record breaking twenty-five former and current Billy Elliots come together on stage in a specially choreographed mash-up finale of Billy Elliot the Musical. At a unique performance, broadcast live to eight countries from the show's West End home at the Victoria Palace Theatre, all three original Billy Elliots - James Lomas, George Maguire and Liam Mower - took part in the spectacular finale. Two special screenings of Billy Elliot the Musical Live also took place at the historic Easington Social Welfare Centre, formerly the Easington Colliery Miners' Institute, one of the settings for Billy's inspiring story.
