Step Up Productions' 3rd Annual HOLIDAZE Begins Today

'Tis the season! Step Up Productions is pleased to continue its 2015-16 season with the return of its wildly popular HOLIDAZE, a hilarious and heartwarming line-up of original holiday-themed short works by Jake Carr, MT Cozzola, Mia McCullough, Steven Simoncic, Steven Peterson and Joshua Rollins. Curated by Tara Branham*, HOLIDAZE will play November 20 - December 20, 2015 at The Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. in Chicago. Tickets go on sale Thursday, October 15 at www.stepupproductions.org or by calling The Athenaeum Box Office at (773) 935-6875. The press performance is Tuesday, November 24 at 8 pm.

The Brown Paper Box Co. to Present JULIUS CAESAR; Cast Announced

The Brown Paper Box Co. has announced the cast for their upcoming production of William Shakespeare's JULIUS CAESAR. The show opens Saturday, March 5, and runs Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM, and Sundays at 2:00 PM through April 3 at The Greenhouse Theater Center in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood (2257 N. Lincoln Avenue). A preview is also scheduled for Friday, March 4, along with a special Monday night performance on March 7, both of which begin at 7:30. Victory Gardens Launches Director Inclusion Initiative

Victory Gardens Theater announces the launch of The Directors Inclusion Initiative to encourage and develop talented and emerging Chicago stage directors identifying as people of color, disable, women, transgender and gender non-conforming. The aim of the initiative is to cultivate a new generation of diverse stage directors who create dynamic theatre work for their unique points of view.

Jackalope Theatre Company wraps up its 7th season with The 6th Annual Living Newspapers Festival. In homage to the 1930's Living Newspapers of the Federal Theatre Project, Jackalope has assembled an exciting group of Chicago playwrights, directors, and actors to dramatize stories ripped from recent newspaper headlines. Presented for a five-performance limited engagement at The Frontier, 1106 W. Thorndale Ave, the festival will run today, August 19, through August 23, Wednesday - Sunday at 7:30pm.

The Kennedy Center to Host 10th Annual MFA Playwrights' Workshop This Summer

The Kennedy Center, in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, the National New Play Network (NNPN)-the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays-and with Stanford University's National Center for New Plays, will host more than 50 playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs from July 25 to August 2, 2015 as part of the 10th annual weeklong MFA Playwrights' Workshop featuring new works by MFA students from Columbia University, Northwestern University, Fordham University, Yale School of Drama, the Juilliard School, New York University-Tisch School of the Arts, University of California-San Diego, and the Juilliard School.

The production, directed by Lavina Jadhwani, premieres on Friday, April 17, and runs through Sunday, April 26, 2015. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on April 15 and 16, at 7:30 PM.

The Gift Theatre's Annual Season Kickoff TEN Returns Next Month

TEN, The Gift Theatre's annual season kickoff celebration of ten 10-minute plays, returns January 1-11, 2015. This year's premieres by The Gift and guests were curated by artistic director Michael Patrick Thornton and associate artistic director Paul D'Addario. Milwaukee, for 2014. Featuring contemporary work from all five Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland), the festival will begin today, December 12 and continue through Sunday, December 14.
