The Public Theater Expands Public Works Program with ACTivate

The Public Theater has announced the expansion of Public Works with ACTivate, a new tier of the groundbreaking initiative designed to bind our community together by creating acts of participatory theater to examine the great issues and dilemmas of our time. Expanding the participant's role in the artistic process, ACTivate bridges the gap between the year-round classes and annual Delacorte pageant in September, engaging the ensemble in every aspect of the creative process and culminating in an original piece. This year, the ensemble will present TROY in The Public's LuEsther Hall for four invited presentations only, June 10-12.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival wrapped up its 80th year Sunday night, November 1, with the final performances of Much Ado about Nothing and Pericles. Preparations for the 2016 season are well under way; 2016 member ticket sales start this week and preview performances begin February 19. The 2016 opening weekend is February 26-28.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theater of color in the country, announces its extended 50th Anniversary Season, GOLDEN, a celebration that will take place over the next two years. On the heels of a record-breaking Visionary Awards Gala, Producing Artistic Director Tim Dang, announces the shows that comprise the GOLDEN season, which will take place from Fall 2014 through Summer 2016.

What are the things that we love that make us who we are? 24th STreet Theatre's Teatro del Pueblo ('Theater of the Village') presents the world premiere of a warm, funny and unique holiday play about love and sacrifice, created from stories shared by members of the local community during workshops with professional theater artists. Written by Laurie Woolery and Victor Vazquez, directed by Woolery, and supported by The James Irvine Foundation Exploring Engagement Fund, 'Ladybird' gets four performances Dec. 7 through Dec. 15 at 24th STreet Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. All performances are in Spanish with English supertitles, and admission is only 24 cents.
