Axis Company presents High Noon, an adaptation of the screenplay for the 1952 Western film, devised by an ensemble led by Artistic Director Randy Sharp. In Axis' High Noon, the Wild West is not the place of heroes and rollicking adventure, but a landscape of overbearing nothingness where humans, and their troubled moral compasses, are cast in glaring light. As a town awaits the alleged return, and potential revenge streak, of a released murderer on an incoming train, their just-married, retiring marshal decides to try to rally a crowd to fight him.
The seventh annual MOONTOWER COMEDY FESTIVAL, along with producers the Paramount Theatre and sponsors Cap City Comedy Club, has announced additional comics to the 2018 lineup, including multiple headlining acts performing at Stateside at the Paramount as well as a variety of comedians playing shows at Moontower satellite venues throughout Austin. Adapted from the classic fairy tale by The Brothers Grimm, this festive, interactive winter play is written and directed by Axis Artistic Director Randy Sharp (Edgar Oliver's Attorney Street, In the Park and East 10th Street). Though the poignant tale was created for kids, the Axis production-which teases out some of the many plausible subtexts-resonates equally well for adults.
