It has just been reported that the hit musical Hairspray will return to the West End! 

Producers, Mark Goucher and Matthew Gale confirmed today that his smash hit production of Hairspray will go out on tour again in 2020. The tour will visit Manchester, Bradford, Blackpool, Northampton, Aylesbury, Birmingham, Glasgow and Liverpool, with further locations to be announced soon. The tour will extend into 2021 and follows two extremely successful tours in 2015/16 and 2017/18.

Over the course of each Broadway season, unexpected and unique storylines inevitably pop up. This morning, with the announcement of the 2019 Tony Award nominations, a number of new narratives have come to life.

The Carriage House Players, in collaboration with the Kenan Center present Yasmina Reza's Tony-award winning comedy, 'Art'. Performances will take place in the Taylor Theater, Friday through Sunday May 10 through 19th, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, and Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. The Taylor Theater is located on the campus of the Kenan Center at 433 Locust Street in Lockport, NY.

Following a critically acclaimed West End Season at the Theatre Royal Haymarket last year, with celebrated productions of Uncle Vanya and Life & Fate (Critics' Choice Guardian, Financial Times, Telegraph, Sunday Times) the Maly Drama Theatre of St. Petersburg return with a luminous retelling of Chekhov's masterpiece, Three Sisters. Playing in London for 10 performances only from June 19th at the Vaudeville Theatre, press nights will be held on June 19th and 20th.

According to the New York Times, actress Rosemary Harris, musician Harold Wheeler and playwright Terrence McNally will all be honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at the 2019 Tonys.

Bertie Carvel stars in the Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of Ink, written by Olivier Award winner James Graham. Carvel reprises his Olivier Award-winning performance as Rupert Murdoch and stars opposite Jonny Lee Miller who plays Larry Lamb, the editor of The Sun.

Six young stars will have the chance to shine in the South African premiere of hit Tony Award-winning musical KINKY BOOTS. Presented by Eric Abraham and The Fugard Theatre, a brand new, original production of this huge-hearted musical will run at The Fugard Theatre from 11 June 2019.

Harvey Sabinson, one of Broadway's legendary press agents, and former long-time executive director of The Broadway League, died on April 18, 2019 of natural causes at his residence in Sarasota, Florida. He was 94 years old.

The team behind 2016's acclaimed production of Tennessee Williams' rarely-seen Kingdom of Earth, is back - this time, with Williams' Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, A Streetcar Named Desire. Jack Heller directs Susan Priver (down-on-her-luck showgirl Myrtle in Kingdom of Earth, LA Weekly award-winning The Lover by Harold Pinter) as Blanche DuBois and Max E. Williams (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., numerous productions with Elephant Theatre Company) as Stanley Kowalski in a visiting production at the Odyssey Theatre presented by Dance On Productions in association with Linda Toliver and Gary Guidinger. Passions flare and cultures collide in the sultry streets of New Orleans beginning May 25, with performances continuing though July 7.

The National Theatre of Great Britain's critically-acclaimed 2007 stage production of 'War Horse,' which inspired Steven Spielberg's 2011 war drama film of the same name, extends its limited engagement at the Lyric Theatre, Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (1 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai). Tickets to the performances from May 10 to June 2, 2019, are now on sale at HKTicketing.com.

THE LION KING will open tonight in Busan at the Dream Theatre following record-breaking seasons in Seoul and Daegu. The excitement has been building for audiences from Busan and the surrounding cities for the landmark musical's arrival. For the very first time in this region of Korea, people can see a production of this scale and ticket sales have been unprecedented. The Busan season has already been extended to accommodate the huge demand, now closing on 26th May, which will be the final chance for Koreans to see the original Broadway production on home soil.

Sunday was a very good day for Patti LuPone at the Laurence Olivier Awards. Not only did the recently closed West End revival of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's COMPANY will the award for Best Musical Revival, the two-time Tony winner also picked up her third Olivier, this time for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for playing Joanne.

This new version of August Strindberg's play Miss Julie, written by Polly Stenham, remains shocking and fiercely relevant in its new setting of contemporary London.  Julie comes to the big screen in HD at The Ridgefield Playhouse Thursday, April 18 at 7:30pm, part of Atria Senior Living Classical Series with support from Whistle Stop Bakery.

Casting has been announced for the premiere engagement of Disney's THE LION KING in West Palm Beach.  THE LION KING will leap onto The Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts' Bernard and Chris Marden stage on Wednesday, April 24 for a 2-week engagement through Sunday, May 5.

Cheek by Jowl reunites with the Moscow Pushkin Drama Theatre on Francis Beaumont's outrageous dark comedy, The Knight of the Burning Pestle, hilarious and terrifying in its relevance to our times. Following its Paris and Moscow premieres, the production comes to London for performances at the Barbican - where Cheek by Jowl is an Artistic Associate, from 5 to 8 June with a press performance on 5 June.

Disney's THE LION KING is celebrating a sold-out record breaking engagement which ended on Sunday, March 31.
