Based on the classic 1989 film and with a 2014 Drama Desk Nominated score by Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde, Bat Boy) and Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness!), the Maine Premiere of HEATHERS the Musical centers around the microcosm of Westerberg High. The Heathers--the hottest and cruelest girls in all of Ohio--rule the school with an iron, well-manicured fist. Check out a first look at the production below!

BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL, an offbeat comedy/horror musical, is a big-hearted satire about prejudice. As ripped from a bizarre tabloid headline and set in a tiny West Virginia town, a strange, deformed boy is found alone in a cave. Once the 'bat boy' is brought to light, dark - and hilarious - secrets emerge, shaking the community to its core. A clever, playful pop/rock score highlights the show's delirious take on American eccentricities.
Story and Book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming. Music and Lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe. Licensed under agreement with Weekly World News. Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc.

BAT BOY: The Musical was the first production at The Kaleidoscope in 2014 and after two years in their beautiful "Off-Broadway" space, the newly redefined company has chosen to remount the musical as they begin a new era of cutting edge theatre in the heart of downtown Houston. BAT BOY will thrill audiences June 24 through July 24.
Hairspray. The Craft. Jawbreaker. Mean Girls. Can't Hardly Wait. Buffy. We would have none of these without Heathers. The flop-turned-cult-phenomenon film starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater in 1988 was a black comedy that took on every young-adult issue and shot it in the face. It's perfect fodder for a musical unlike any you've ever witnessed before, rightfully making its return to Sydney after touring the nation, to shock and shine at the Sydney Opera House. We've had a few cast changes since the Australian premiere at Hayes Theatre - don't worry they're all still alive, most of them just bailed to become Queens of a new musical - and the latest cast have really sensationalised the sass, camped it up like Christmas and made the vocals so very! If you missed it last time, it's a must-see moxie-fest. If you did catch it last time, then you definitely have to get back and see how it takes on the big stage with new choreography, design and drama!

BAT BOY: THE MUSICAL will play June 4 - July 24, 2016 at The Den Theatre's Heath Main Stage, 1329 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago. Tickets are currently available at www.griffintheatre.com.
