The musical theatre department at the New York Film Academy (now known as the Professional Conservatory of Musical Theatre) was launched in 2009 with nine students in the first class. Nine years later, hundreds of students have studied musical theatre at NYFA. The school's mission is to teach techniques being used every night on Broadway… and their faculty is the backbone of the Great White Way!
The Off-Broadway League today announced nominations in 19 categories for the 33rd Annual Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway. The Lortel Awards will be presented on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at NYU Skirball Center beginning at 7:00 PM EST. This year's event will be hosted by actors Laura Benanti and Jason Jones and will once again serve as a benefit for The Actors Fund.
Due to popular demand, The York Theatre Company announces the release of a limited number of tickets for the dress rehearsal of the special Spring Gala Celebration of the 15th anniversary of the Off-Broadway hit The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!). It was indeed a weekend of love at the Patchogue Theatre honoring the fiftieth anniversary of the iconic musical, Hair. To commemorate, the gorgeous Long Island venue put together a thrilling - and abbreviated - concert version of the Tony winner featuring top talent from Broadway and beyond for a stellar celebration brilliantly directed and conducted by Emmy, Grammy, and Tony winner John McDaniel. Set in the late 1960s/early 19070's, the story follows a "tribe" of politically active hippies promoting community and love during the Vietnam Era - one of the many themes in this story.
Song bird, Taylor Pearlstein is set to release her debut album, When the Birds Wake You Up. From Seattle to Tuscan, Taylor Pearlstein has been seen on stages all across the country. After moving to New York City just last year, she has quickly become a crowd favorite in the late night cabaret scene, having performed at Le Poison Rouge, The Duplex, and The West End Lounge with artists like Derek Gregor, Sam Carner, Morgan Reilly, and more.

Singer/Actress Erin Leddy and New York concert performer, actor and writer Tim Realbuto will team up for their Green Room 42 debut in CROSSROADS on Sunday, April 8th at 7:00 PM. Ms. Leddy is known for her performances in GHOSTLIGHT THE MUSICAL (co-written by Realbuto) and ANYTHING GOES. Mr. Realbuto, who is known for his performances in THE WEAK ONES and WUNDERKIND, will begin filming the lead role in the motion picture YES (based on his hit stage play) this spring.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) is pleased to announce the 2018 MAC Award nominees. The nominees, in a majority of the categories, were determined by votes cast by the active MAC membership. The MAC Board of Directors selected the nominees for Show of the Year. Special committees selected the nominees in the Ensemble Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Instrumentalist, Piano Bar Singing Entertainer (Female; Male), Recording (LaMott Friedman), Major Recording, Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories. The names of the songwriters in the Song and Comedy/Novelty Song categories are being withheld during the voting period, but will be announced publicly as soon as the voting period concludes.
