With the images from Stoneman Douglas High School fresh in our nation's collective mind, and millions of voices rising in unison to demand sensible legislation on gun control now, two local professional theatres are joining the cause by taking part in the National Campaign Of Theater Activism Against Gun Violence, taking place across the country April 19-23, 2018.

Our Own Voice Theatre Troupe is presenting a reading of Natural Shocks by award-winning playwright Lauren Gunderson on Saturday, April 21, at 5PM at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church, 5530 Shady Grove Road, in Memphis, TN.

On Friday, April 20th, the 19th anniversary of Columbine and the day of the National School Walkout, The Bridge Initiative: Women in Theatre and Tempe Center for the Arts will present a staged reading of Natural Shocks, a national campaign of theatre activism against gun violence written by Lauren Gunderson.

Ithaca's Kitchen Theatre Company is partnering with NYC's Daughters of Troy to produce a reading of Natural Shocks, a new play by Lauren Gunderson on April 21st at 4 pm. The show, based on Hamlet's "To be or not to be", follows a woman waiting out an imminent tornado in her basement, and grapples with the reality of gun violence. The reading at the Kitchen, directed by Aubrey Saverino and featuring Brooke M. Haney, is one of over 50 that are happening all over the country that weekend, the 19th anniversary of the Columbine attack.

Victory Gardens Theater, in association with Natural Shocks National Project and HowlRound Theatre Commons, presents Town Hall: #NeverAgainChicago to discuss the call to action taking place across the nation by students and allies to end gun violence. #NeverAgainChicago, which also features a reading of an excerpt from Lauren Gunderson's new play Natural Shocks, will be held in the Za?ek McVay Theater at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N.
