Lesser America (Half Moon Bay, The Bachelors, Carnival Kids, Trevor) presents the New York Premiere of IN A WORD by Lauren Yee, winner of the 2016 Francesca Primus Prize and a finalist for the ATCA/Steinberg Award. Directed by Tyne Rafaeli (The Bridges of Madison County national tour, Actually at Geffen Playhouse), previews begin June 16 at Cherry Lane Theatre, where Lesser America continues its run as the inaugural Company in Residence.

WP Theater (formerly known as Women's Project Theater), under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty and Managing Director Michael Sag, has announced their 2017-2018 40th Anniversary Season at WP Theater (2162 Broadway, at 76th Street).

The American Playwriting Foundation (Executive Director David Bar Katz), established to make annual grants to new American plays, has selected Aleshea Harris for The 2016 Relentless Award, the largest annual cash prize in American theater awarded to a play.

The American Playwriting Foundation, which awards the largest annual grant in American theater to an unproduced play, is partnering with two of the most vibrant theaters in London to give eight American playwrights per year an opportunity to create artistic relationships with the British theater community.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center celebrates dozens of shows on Broadway, off-Broadway, and in theaters across the globe this 2016-17 season. Projects from the National Playwrights Conference and National Music Theater Conference have moved on to significant productions and even the Academy Awards.

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) has announced the casting for its 2016 season opener, the World Premiere of My Jane by Producing Artistic Director Daniel Elihu Kramer. My Jane, a contemporary exploration of Charlotte Bronte?'s sweeping novel Jane Eyre, opens June 29th and plays through July 10, 2016, at Chester's historic Town Hall, 15 Middlefield Road in Chester, MA. Camila Cano?-Flavia? will be making her professional debut in the title role of Jane.

It is directed by Jess Chayes (AD of Peter and The Starcatcher) starring Keilly McQuail (You Got Older, Her Requiem) and Gabriel King (These Seven Sicknesses). The Amoralists present the world premiere of UTILITY, written by Emily Schwend and directed by Jay Stull. UTILITY runs now through February 20, 2016 in a limited engagement at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, located at 224 Waverly Place between Perry & West 11th Streets in New York City. MENTOR PROJECT - the Cherry Lane Theatre's Obie-winning program for new playwrights - will mark another milestone this year when three emerging writers are mentored by three previous Mentored Playwrights from the program's early years, with fully-staged productions presented by Cherry Lane (38 Commerce St. in NYC) from February 24 to April 23, 2016 it has been announced by the theater's Producing Artistic Director, Angelina Fiordellisi.
