The annual Tony Eve Cocktail Party took place last night, Saturday, June 8th, at the Lugo Caffe (One Penn Plaza) in Midtown. The event celebrated this year's Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre and Special Tony Awards. 'Making it on Broadway' (www.makingitonbroadway.net) a week long intensive theater and theater education series in New York City, has only a few spots left in its exciting summer session. This summer, the prestigious guest teachers include, but are not limited to, Laura Osnes (Tony Nominee for 'Cinderella'), Frank Wildhorn (Composer of 'Jekyll and Hyde', 'Scarlet Pimpernel', 'Bonnie and Clyde', 'Wonderland'), Pasek and Paul (Tony Nominated Composers of 'A Christmas Story'), Anthony Rapp ('Rent'), and Lindsay Mendez (Star of 'Dogfight' and currently playing Elphaba in 'Wicked').

CINDERELLA -- the Rodgers + Hammerstein musical now at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) -- played its 100th performance on Wednesday evening, May 29. The cast celebrated with a cake from Carlo's Bakery, home of TV's 'Cake Boss.' The musical began previews on January 25 and had its official opening night on March 3. Written for CBS-TV in 1957, this production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA marks the musical's first-eve Broadway production, now in its 5th month of performances. Yesterday afternoon, the 2013 Tony Award nominees celebrated the week of the the 67th Annual Tony Awards (which will air live on CBS on Sunday, June 9th) at New York City's biggest landmark- the Empire State Building. Attendees included: Bertie Carvel, Carrie Coon, Charl Brown, Gabriel Ebert, Judith Light, Justin Paul & Benj Pasek, Keala Settle, Laura Osnes, Lauren Ward, Patina Miller, Richard Kind, Rob McClure, Santino Fontana, Shalita Grant, Stark Sands, Stephanie J. Inside Broadway's Executive Director Michael Presser is pleased to announce that they will also honor stage and screen starMichael Urie (Buyer & Cellar, Ugly Betty) at their Broadway Beacon Awards on Monday, June 17 at Joe's Pub at 7pm(there is also a cocktail reception before the awards ceremony). Inside Broadway will also honor 2013 Tony Award nominees Laura Osnes (Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella) and Condola Rashad (The Trip to the Bountiful) as well asAlan L. The Tony-nominated stars of the Broadway musical Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA -- Laura Osnes (Cinderella) and Santino Fontana (the Prince) --will host the 5th Annual National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) on Monday, July 1 at the Minskoff Theater on Broadway. Student winners from 31 regional awards will compete in the national event for the Jimmy Awards, named after Broadway theater owner and producer James M. ("Jimmy") Nederlander.

The Tony Awards are now less than a month away, and I've really been enjoying revisiting memories, cast albums, and even shows themselves since the nominations were announced! A few days ago I posted my thoughts on the Best Score, Book, Musicals and Plays. Today, here are my feelings in the acting categories.
