For generations, RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA existed only as a beloved television movie. First with a live broadcast in 1957 starring Julie Andrews; then in 1965 with Lesley Ann Warren, a version which was regularly re-broadcast into the 90s (which I grew up watching); and finally in 1997 with Brandy in the title role and Whitney Houston as her Fairy Godmother. However, in 2013, over 55 years after its first broadcast, led by Broadway's favorite princess Laura Osnes and crowned prince Santino Fontana, R&H 's CINDERELLA took its first Broadway bow. The show earned nine Tony nominations, running for nearly two years. Now, CINDERELLA's First National Tour sets up shop in its own little corner at Orlando's Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, with performances beginning on Tuesday night.

What better way to herald Into the Woods' first night than by focusing today's Friday Five (sure, we know it's Thursday, but The Thursday Five doesn't have the same ring to it and The Thursday Thirty just sounds like too much - plus we have other things to do besides talk to actors) on three of the company members, director Scott Baker (who, apparently, can do anything - and actually does it all), actress Kari Smith (who first we reviewed in Annie at Nashville Playhouse in 1989), who is a 2015 First Night Star Award winner, and the very tall (and ridiculously talented) Scott Patrick Wilson, who plays one of the princes and is a 2015 First Night Most Promising Actor!

It was 20 years ago when Sarah Jessica Parker starred Off-Broadway in A.R. Gurney's off-beat comedy about a man and his dog, SLYVIA. Just last night her hubby Matthew Broderick had the honor of opening in SLYVIA on Broadway, joined by Annaleigh Ashford as Sylvia, with Julie White and Robert Sella. The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present 'Show Biz After Hours With Frank DiLella,' a new talk/variety show hosted by the popular NY1 theater journalist. The first 'episode' took place on Monday, October 26, and Frank's guests included Laura Osnes and Corey Cott (the stars of THE BANDSTAND at Paper Mill Playhouse), original JERSEY BOY Daniel Reichard, Ali Stroker (one of the stars of SPRING AWAKENING) and the Tony nominated star of LEGALLY BLONDE, Orfeh.
