On Monday, June 20th, the Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley. For the episode, Ripley discusses her work in the recent AMERICAN PSYCHO, why this was the right role to bring her back to Broadway after a nearly five year-break, and why she thinks the show struggled to find an audience.

THE 70TH ANNUAL TONY AWARDS, aired live from the Beacon Theatre, last night Sunday, June 12 on the CBS Television Network. After the ceremony is when the real fun started though, as most of the evening's celebrity guests headed to the annual Tonys Gala at the Plaza Hotel. The Tony Awards has announced the star-studded team that will bring Broadway fans across the world exclusive content live from the red carpet and behind-the-scenes at this year's Tony Awards. The American Theatre Wing's 70th Annual Tony Awards - hosted by Tony Award winner James Corden - will air on the CBS Television Network on Sunday, June 12, 2016 (8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

The film, which opens theatrically on June 10, just premiered at the MoMA and you can check out photos from the big night below!

On Monday, June 6, the Theater People podcast welcomes Tony nominee Jennifer Damiano. She made her Broadway debut at the age of 15 in the groundbreaking and Tony Award-winning musical SPRING AWAKENING. She went on to originate the role of Natalie in the Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt musical NEXT TO NORMAL, for which she earned a Tony Award nomination.

Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you some cabaret highlights for this week as picked by our theatre editors, including: Laura Michelle Kelly at 54 Below; New Musicals at 54: Funked Up Fairy Tales by Kirsten Childs; The Songs of Carner & Gregor; Barrett Foa: Grin and Barrett; and 54 Sings How to Succeed.

The complete lineup for the Best of Broadway Sings, the next concert in the Broadway Sings concert series at the Highline Ballroom, will feature Corey Cott (Newsies), Christine Dwyer (Wicked), and Laura Michelle Kelly (Finding Neverland).

On Monday, May 23 the Theater People podcast welcomes Krysta Rodriguez, Andy Mientus, and Alex Boniello. The three sit down to discuss the Tony nominated Deaf West Theater production of SPRING AWAKENING in which they all starred. The first annual Broadway Bee, featuring Paige Davis (Chicago), Laura Michelle Kelly (Finding Neverland), Tony winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten), and Jose Llana (The King and I) took place just last night at The Cutting Room (44 E. 32nd St). Proceeds benefit Broadway Bound Kids, a NYC performing arts education organization. Ten teams, each representing a Broadway show, were encouraged to pull out all the stops to correctly spell the words. The more funds each team raised, the more they were allowed to cheat! 

From tonight, May 7, through June 4, 2016, SpeakEasy Stage Company will proudly present the Boston Professional Premiere of DOGFIGHT, a powerful new musical about unexpected love, loss, and brotherhood, based on the 1991 film starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor.

Award-winning actor and playwright John Cariani (Something Rotten!) will be the Comfort Counselor for the first annual Broadway Bee, featuring Paige Davis (Chicago), Laura Michelle Kelly (Finding Neverland), Tony winner Christian Borle (Something Rotten), and Jose Llana (The King and I)  in an adults only spelling bee, on Monday, May 9 at 7pm at The Cutting Room (44 E. 32nd St). Everyone has their own pre-show rituals that they need to do before a show. This year I especially became extremely interested in seeing how other people prepare for shows.
