In less than three weeks, Detroit Public Television will head to Washington, DC to bring book lovers nationwide extensive coverage of the 15th Annual Library of Congress National Book Festival — an annual literary event that brings together best-selling authors and thousands of book fans for author talks, panel discussions, book signings and other activities.

Arnold Scaasi, Canadian fashion designer who created ensembles for the rich and famous, died today, August 4, 2015. He was 85. Scaasi crafted one of his most recognized, and perhaps infamous, outfits for stage and screen star Barbra Streisand. She wore it to the 1969 Academy Awards, where she won the Oscar for her performance in the film FUNNY GIRL.
