H.M. 'Harry' Koutoukas, a surrealist playwright, actor, and teacher from the beginnings of the Off-Off-Broadway movement, died on March 6 in his apartment at the age of 72.

SIN, a mystical comedy, based on Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story 'The Unseen,' adapted by Mark Altman, will have it's world premiere at the Baruch Performing Arts Center's Rose Nagelberg Theatre (55 Lexington Avenue at 25th Street).

The critically acclaimed THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE plays its 200th performance tonight since the run began in September, 2009 at Hartford Stage. THE ORPHANS' HOME CYCLE has been extended by popular demand through Saturday, May 8th at Signature Theatre Company.

The Bay Street Theatre has announced they will name their new stage the ANNIE AND ELI, after theatre legends Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach. The 99-seat theatre will serve as a testament to the contribution in theatre by both individuals.

Williamstown Theatre Festival (Nicholas Martin, Artistic Director) announced today that Terry Kinney (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; reasons to be pretty) will direct a production of Lanford Wilson's modern classic Fifth of July, which will play the WTF Main Stage from August 11 - 22, 2010. A co-production with Bay Street Theatre, this gentle comic drama from Wilson's beloved Talley Trilogy will be the final Main Stage production of the season.

Barbara Manocherian, Richard Willis and Anthony Barrile in association with Naked Angels (Geoffrey Nauffts, Artistic Director; John Alexander, Managing Director; Andy Donald, Associate Artistic Director; Brittany O'Neill, Producer) are pleased to announce that the critically acclaimed original cast will return for the Broadway run of NEXT FALL, the new American play by Geoffrey Nauffts and directed by Sheryl Kaller. The production will open on Broadway on Thursday, March 11, 2010 with preview performances beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44th Street).

Barefoot Theatre Company will present the closing event of the 70/70 Project, a yearlong, worldwide festival showcasing 70 plays by the soon-to-be 71-year-old playwright. The celebration features a reading of Unexpected Tenderness, one of Horovitz's most personal plays, live music, a surprise guest host and more. This special evening will take place at the Bleecker Street Theatre (45 Bleecker between Lafayette and Mott streets) on Wednesday, March 31st, 2010. Cocktail hour is at 7pm; curtain rises at 8. Know Theatre of Cincinnati is pleased to announce its third production of the season, Adding Machine: A Musical, with original music by Joshua Schmidt and libretto by Jason Loewith & Joshua Schmidt based on the play The Adding Machine by Elmer Rice. Adding Machine: A Musical will open on Know Theatre's mainstage February 13 and play through March 6, 2010. Michael Burnham will direct the production and Alan Patrick Kenny is the Musical Director. Signature Theatre Company (James Houghton, Founding Artistic Director; Erika Mallin, Executive Director) celebrated the construction of the theatre's future home, The Signature Center, at its 2010 annual gala on Monday, March 1 at Espace (635 West 42nd Street). Guest of honor was Frank Gehry, architect of the Signature Center. The evening alsod include the presentation of Signature's Playwrights' Award to actress Hallie Foote, daughter of the late playwright Horton Foote, who is currently starring at Signature in her father's critically acclaimed world premiere trilogy, The Orphans' Home Cycle.
