Newsies, the hit Tony Award-winning musical celebrated its first year on Broadway with its entire creative team and Mauro Castano from Carlo's Bakery and TLC's 'Cake Boss,' who created a one of a kind cake for the special occasion.

Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work. Just yesterday, Kids' Night on Broadway kicks off at the immersive and educational Discovery Times Square; where there were unique theatre activities including: Autograph Alley with Broadway performers, a dance workshop with Revolucion Latina, Broadway Karaoke, stage makeup demonstrations, craft activities and much more including a free theatre activity guide. The Broadway Green Alliance also collected plastic bottle caps (plastic and metal) to incorporate in to the set for the new production of Peter and the Starcatcher Off-Broadway. For those craving a show after the show, 54 BELOW, the new performance venue located just below the legendary Studio 54 at 254 West 54th Street, offers its Today night cocktail party/songfest, 'Backstage.' Special guest stars tonight, February 19th include performances by Kate Rockwell (Currently starring as 'Sherrie' in Rock of Ages), Lavon Fisher Wilson (currently starring in Disney's Newsies), Alex Wyse (from Broadway's Lysistrata Jones and Off-Broadway's Bare), Ryan Knowles (from NEWSical - The Musical and Dr. Seuss's How The Grinch Stole Christmas), Jonathan Whitton (MAC and Bistro Award winning singer, as well as 'The Disney Diaries' ), cabaret singer Tori Scott.

This past weekend, Nigel Lythgoe and Adam Shankman of "So You Think You Can Dance" attended a performance of Newsies, the Tony Award winning new American musical, and visited with the cast backstage afterwards. Cast members Evan Kasprzak and Jess LeProtto have both competed on the Fox dance competition, in seasons five and eight respectively. Check out backstage photos below!

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that Andy Richardson will replace Andrew Keenan-Bolger as 'Crutchie' in Newsies, which is currently playing at the Nederlander Theatre. As BroadwayWorld previously announced, Keenean-Bolger will soon leave the production to star in the pre-Broadway engagement of Tuck Everlasting at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center. Richardson, who currently plays 'Romeo' will assume the role on March 11.

Sherri Shepherd, co-host of ABC's Emmy Award-winning talk show "The View," recently made a one night cameo appearance in the Tony Award-winning Broadway hit musical, NEWSIES. Scroll below for photos of her night on the Broadway stage!

The View's Sherri Shepherd recently fulfilled her lifelong dream when she made her Broadway debut in the SMASH hit, Tony Award winning musical, NEWSIES. During her one-night only appearance, Shepherd will take viewers backstage, up close and personal with the creative team, cast and crew - with all the backstage antics and opening night jitters on 'The View's JANUARY 25th episode airing 11:00 am/ET on ABC.
