Film Independent, the non-profit arts organization that produces the Spirit Awards and the Los Angeles Film Festival, announced nominations this morning for the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards. Eva Mendes and Jeremy Renner served as presenters and 2011 Spirit Awards host Joel McHale was also on hand. Nominees for Best Feature include 127 Hours, Black Swan, Greenberg, The Kids Are All Right and Winter's Bone.

Charles Mesure, who played Kyle Patrick Hobbes in the first season of 'V,' will join the show as a series regular for the upcoming Season Two (premiere date is TBD). Hobbes was the mercenary who joined forces with The Fifth Column to battle the V's, only to be seen in the Season Finale secretly meeting with Anna's second in command, Marcus, who asked Hobbes if he would like to switch sides and work for the V's.

Henson and Matt Dillon also announced finalists for the Acura Someone to Watch Award, the Truer Than Fiction Award, and the Piaget Producers Award. A Serious Man was selected for the Robert Altman Award, which is given to one film's director, casting director and ensemble cast.

The 25th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards were handed out Friday, March 5, in Los Angeles. The film 'Precious' took home Best Feature honors while its stars Mo'nique and Gabourey Sibide won for Best Supporting Female and Best Female Lead respectively.
