Rev. Billy and Stop Shopping Choir Director Face Prison for Manhattan Performance

Prosecutors are demanding a year in prison and $30k bail for William Talen (aka Reverend Billy) and Nehemiah Luckett, Music Director of the Reverend's Church of Stop Shopping, for a recent performance the Stop Shopping Choir, costumed as extinct toads, gave in a JP Morgan Chase bank in Manhattan. The 15-minute performance in the Chase Bank has earned criminal charges of "Riot," "Menacing" and "Unlawful Assembly."

USVAA & Rogue Machine to Present TRACERS & THE LONG WAY HOME with All Veteran Cast, 9/28-11/9

Winning upwards of 50 awards (including Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle, LA Weekly, Ovation, Garland, and BEST PRODUCTION two years in a row), and lauded as 'Best Theatre Company of 2012' by the LA Weekly, Rogue Machinewill partner with the United States Veterans' Artists Alliance for two historic productions. Raging Squid Ink and Eric Schmalenberger have announced the Raging Squid Ink and Eric Schmalenberger have announced the world premiere production of Jake Thomas' THE DEAD DREAM MACHINE, video art directed by Sean Gill and directed and choreographed by Rachel Klein. THE DEAD DREAM MACHINE will play a limited engagement at La Luz (135 Thames Street, Brooklyn, NY). Performances begin tonight, September 18 and continue through Saturday, October 13. Opening Night is Friday, September 20 (8 p.m.). Press are invited tonight, September 18 at 8 p.m., Thursday, September 19 at 8 p.m. and Friday, September 20 at 8 p.m. (and any subsequent performance).

Long Beach Opera Announces 2014 Season: QUEENIE PIE, THE DEATH OF KLINGHOFFER & More!

Long Beach Opera's Artistic and General Director Andreas Mitisek announces the company's 2014 plans to produce five rarely performed 20th and 21st century, "Out Of Bounds," operas. The new season includes the Southern California premieres of Duke Ellington's "street opera" Queenie Pie and John Adams' controversial The Death of Klinghoffer; An American Soldier's Tale, Kurt Vonnegut 's provocative remake of Igor Stravinsky'sThe Soldier's Tale paired with Wynton Marsalis' jazz-driven A Fiddler's Tale; and a reprise of LBO audience favorite, David Lang's haunting The Difficulty of Crossing a Field. Three of the five composers-Adams, Marsalis and Lang-are actively contributing to today's music scene, while Stravinsky and Ellington made indelible marks on 20th century music.

Chad Kimball to Star in Retrop Productions' JULIAN PO at NYMF, 7/8-14

The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Retrop Productions will present JULIAN PO, a new musical with book and lyrics by Andrew Barrett and music by Ira Antelis, from July 8 to 14, 2013. JULIAN PO, which mixes comedy and drama, opens in New York after a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it was nominated for "Best Book of a Musical." JULIAN PO, based on the book La mort de monsieur Golouja by Branimir Š?epanovi? and the screenplay "Julian Po" by Alan Wade, features elements of pop, rock, country, bluegrass and gospel. JULIAN PO is an official selection of The New York Musical Theatre Festival's "2013 Next Link Project." The show is directed by Kirsten Sanderson with music direction by Mark Hartman.
