A.R.T.'s THE TEMPEST, Helmed by Aaron Posner and Teller, Begins Tonight

Producer Robb Nanus (Andrew Lippa's I Am Harvey Milk) presents the world-premiere production of DEBUTANTE., written by Ryann Weir and directed/created by Annie Tippe. After a sold out presentation at Ars Nova's ANT Fest last June, DEBUTANTE. returns to New York City this spring at the Bernie Wohl Center (647 Columbus Avenue) starting tonight, April 23.

Film Society of Lincoln Center Announces Details for 'Fassbinder: Romantic Anarchist'

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the details for Fassbinder: Romantic Anarchist (Part 1), May 16 - June 1. Divided into two parts, the retrospective will be the most extensive presentation of Fassbinder's films in New York since 1997, with Part 1 including almost all of his work leading up to 1974 and Part 2 (screening in November) to pick up from 1974 through 1982. The ambitious two-part series will include all of his theatrical features, much of his television work, films he starred in, films that influenced him, and films that were influenced by his work.

Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir to Bring THE HONEYBEELUJAH SHOW to Joe's Pub, 5/4-6/22

Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir, who first rose to international attention for their music-based consciousness-raising about consumerism, have turned their attention to big corporations' role in climate disruption. New York City's singing activists will perform The HoneyBeeLujah Show-in which they take up the 'Big Ag' complex of mono-culture farming, with the Honey Bee, one of its victims, as the Choir's animal guide- May 4 - June 22 at Joe's Pub at The Public (425 Lafayette St, NYC).

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts presents the world premiere of THE TEMPEST, produced by the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at The Smith Center in Las Vegas today, April 5-13, 2014. The Smith Center's first ever co-production, THE TEMPEST is adapted and directed by Aaron Posner and Teller from the play by William Shakespeare, with magic by Teller, music by Tom Waits and movement by Matt Kent of Pilobolus. THE TEMPEST will perform at The Smith Center's Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park in a 500-seat climate controlled tent before moving to Cambridge, MA to begin performances at A.R.T.

PDP to Close Season with Subcircle Premiere, 4/3-5

Philadelphia Dance Projects closes a season full of regional and world premieres with the presentation of a moving new work by Choreographer Niki Cousineau and Designer Jorge Cousineau, together as Subcircle. The premiere piece, All this happened, more or less, will run April 3 - 5 at the Performance Garage.

3-Legged Dog & Untitled Theater Company #61 to Present THE PIG, OR VÁCLAV HAVEL'S HUNT FOR THE PIG, 3/6-29

Legged Dogand Untitled Theater Company #61 are pleased to announce the return of THE PIG, OR VÁCLAV HAVEL'S HUNT FOR THE PIG, written by Vaclav Havel and Vladimir Moravek, adapted into English by Edward Einhorn. Directed by Henry Akona and featuring music from The Bartered Bride by Bed?ich Smetana (with musical arrangements by Mr. Akona), THE PIG, OR VÁCLAV HAVEL'S HUNT FOR THE PIG begins performances on Thursday, March 6 for a limited engagement through Sunday, March 29. Smith Center Extends THE TEMPEST Through 4/20

The Smith Center for the Performing Arts has added an additional week of performances for the world premiere of a reimagined version of "THE TEMPEST" due to popular ticket demand, which will now play April 6-20. The Smith Center's first ever co-production, "THE TEMPEST" is produced by the American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.), adapted and directed by Aaron Posner and Teller from the play by William Shakespeare, with magic by Teller, music by Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan and movement by Matt Kent of Pilobolus. "THE TEMPEST" performances will take place at The Smith Center's Donald W. Reynolds Symphony Park in a 500-seat climate-controlled tent, where no seat is more than 60 feet from the stage. Performances are scheduled Tuesday-Sunday at 8 p.m. with additional matinees at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Reverend Billy's EARTHALUJAH Set for Joe's Pub, 11/24-12/22

This November and December Joe's Pub at The Public presents five performances of Reverend Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir in Earthalujah, directed by Savitri D with music director Nehemiah Luckett and featuring a 35-member choir and music from the 5-piece Not Buying It Band.
