The producers of Broadway's LEAP OF FAITH announced today that Kecia Lewis-Evans (The Drowsy Chaperone), Leslie Odom, Jr. ("Smash") and Krystal Joy Brown (Hair) will join previously announced Broadway cast members Raul Esparza, Jessica Phillips and Kendra Kassebaum. The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) and 1113 Productions (Steven Ullman, Executive Producer) presents Stephanie Umoh, most recently seen as 'Sarah' in the Broadway revival of Ragtime, in the cast of Falling For Eve for its final week. Ms. Umoh will play the role of 'Eve' starting performances on Tuesday, August 3rd until the show's scheduled closing on Sunday, August 8th. I started to play the guitar when I was 12. When I finally decided to try to be an actor for a living.... Musical theatre was something I gravitated to because it combined two of my favorite things...music and dance belts (or girls...or girls in dance belts). When I was in high school I sang in a rock band (we were totally sensitive) and I love that feeling of getting out there with a band creating a cacophony of different sounds. So, when they asked me to write a blerg (the Tina Fey pronunciation), I decided to write mine about the band.
Krystal Joy Brown is taking on the role of Eve in the World Premiere of Falling for Eve, a new musical with book by Tony Award winner Joe DiPietro, at the York Theatre at Saint Peter's. Brown made her Broadway debut in Hair and began her career as Mimi in the national tour of Rent.

Well, maybe we are. And maybe you are too. I used to like to consider a lot of the crazy people who stopped to talk to me in the street my guardian angels. Some drunk guy would walk up to me and tell me to follow my dreams: guardian angel. That was when I first got to New York. I was younger then (cough, cough, smoke, smoke.) And yet, I do feel quite lucky (shall I use the word blessed?) to go out on stage and work with these lovely and talented people on Falling for Eve every night. I also love getting to talk to the audience. Especially when they are smiling and look like they are ready for a good time. That's right, y'all: I can see your faces. That's also right, friends and family: Please sit in the fourth row or further back.

FALLING FOR EVE was performing in Bryant Park for the Annual Summer Concert Series sponsored and hosted by LiteFM. We were singing three songs from the show, as were a few other shows currently on the boards.
