LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, in partnership with Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center (KVPAC), welcomes Making A Mark®, the Texas Children's Cancer Center and Hematology Service's touring art exhibition presented by The Periwinkle Foundation to Katy.
The extraordinary display features the works of young artists whose lives have been touched by cancer and blood disorders and provides a unique focus on their personal issues. The exhibit will open to the public Wednesday, April 14 at 5:30 p.m. in Ste. C 140 of LaCenterra (between Simply Cinco and Panera Bread) and runs through April 28 before moving to KVPAC gallery for an additional three-week showing. The exhibit will close to the public Friday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m. in KVPAC Building 2 with a special child-friendly 'Whine & Cheese-its' cocktail party and performance of Cinderella. Families are welcome!

Books Alive!, a dynamic literacy program at Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) hit the road with the help of Mickie C and Company donating the use of their moving truck to transport sets and equipment to serve more than 7,000 children in 43 locations this past fall. The professional musical theatre production of If You Give A Mouse A Cookie based on the book by Laura Numeroff delighted young audiences at Ronald McDonald House, Texas Childrens Hospital and House of Tiny Treasures Homeless Daycare Center and others.

Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) has approved Books Alive! Literacy through the Arts for its 2009 touring roster and grants are available to schools, libraries and non-profit organizations. Books Alive! is an innovative literacy program at Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC), which presents a professional musical play, adapted from a featured book. It travels off-site or is available as a field trip to KVPAC.
Books Alive! Literacy through the Arts leaps once again from the page to the stage by announcing its Fall 2009 production of, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, based on the book by Laura Joffe Numeroff. Books Alive! is a dynamic interactive program, which introduces children to the wonderful world of books, the joy of reading and stimulates a desire for lifelong literacy through a professional musical play, adapted from the featured book. It is available on location or as a field trip to Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center (KVPAC).
