Today, the directors of the PROTOTYPE Festival, alongside partners St. Ann's Warehouse, La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, and Abrons Arts Center, announced the difficult decision to postpone this year's tenth anniversary festival to January of 2023, due to the current surge in COVID cases and the resulting safety risks, as well as logistical challenges including artist and staff illnesses, travel complications, and more. The Festival was scheduled to run January 7-16, 2022.

OPERA America has announced the recipients of the 2022 IDEA Opera Residencies (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) program, an initiative that provides New York City-based composers and librettists of color an opportunity to explore opera as an expressive medium. The program is supported by the Katherine S. and Axel G. Rosin Fund of The Scherman Foundation.

The OBIE-winning HERE has announced additional programming for its HERE THERE EVERYWHERE fall 2020 season. HERE's expanded online programming continues to innovate with the serial space opera, Only You Will Recognize The Signal, featuring a libretto by Rob Handel, music by Kamala Sankaram, and direction by Kristin Marting.

Mabou Mines will present the work of the 2020 SUITE/Space Artists Christopher-Rashee Stevenson, Sean Devare, Shenny de Los Angeles and Sim Yan Ying 'YY' streaming live from October 22-31, 2020.

The OBIE-winning HERE, has announced HERE THERE EVERYWHERE, a return to live in-person events along with expanded online programming for its summer and fall 2020 season, featuring original relevant works by more than 235 diverse artists. A centerpiece of the season is #stillHERE: IRL, an adventurous new series that reimagines the live experience.

HERE will present all decisions will be made by consensus, a 15-minute operatic experiment by composer Kamala Sankaram, librettist Rob Handel, and director Kristin Marting.

Renowned composer Kamala Sankaram (Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera) has embarked on an opera experiment during the current COVID-19 health crisis which has shut down the world's stages. Sankaram, along with librettist Rob Handel, have composed the world's first Zoom opera.

HERE will welcome Bengali theater-maker Shayok Misha Chowdhury, playwright and director Normandy Sherwood, and instrumentalist gamin and sound & visual composer Sachiyo Takahashi as new members of the HERE Artist Residency Program (HARP).

HERE (Kristin Marting, Founding Artistic Director) continues its 2019a?"2020 season with the New York premiere of Anywhere from Le Théâtre de l'Entrouvert. Freely inspired by the novel Oedipus on the Road by Henry Bauchau, Anywhere evokes the long wandering of Oedipus, who abandons his throne and sets out on a journey, accompanied by his daughter Antigone. The fallen Oedipus appears as an ice puppet that gradually turns into water then into mist and disappears in the Erynian Forest -- the place of clairvoyance. It is an inner evolution represented through the metamorphosis of water.
