The Flea Theater presents the New York premiere of Kristiana Colon's but i cd only whisper, directed by Resident Director David Monteagudo and featuring members of The Bats, The Flea's resident acting company. Previews start February 18, with opening night slated for Monday, February 29.

Niegel Smith, Artistic Director and Carol Ostrow, Producing Director of The Flea Theater announced today the slate for the spring season, featuring two World Premieres and one US Premiere. Continuing a long-standing relationship with The Flea, Adam Rapp will be returning with Wolf in the River, which he also directs. The Flea is also excited to welcome two new playwrights, Kristiana Colon and Sarah Gancher. Gancher's The Place We Built will be directed by Flea Resident Director Danya Taymor while Colon's but I cd only whisper will be directed by Resident Director David Monteagudo.

Stage Left Theatre's LeapFest XII to Run 7/13-31

Victory Gardens Theater hosted We Must Breathe: A Response from Chicago Playwrights and Poets, a special event gathering members of Chicago's artistic community to share their views on discrimination, race and inequality and engage Chicagoans in a discussion about these social issues. We Must Breathe featured performances from poets and playwrights directed by Victory Gardens' Associate Artistic Producer Joanie Schultz, and a forum discussion on the performance topics, moderated by Congo Square Theatre's Artistic Director Samuel Roberson. The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, will produce six new plays in staged reading format at its National Showcase of New Plays, hosted this weekend, November 21-23 in Sarasota, FL by Florida Studio Theatre. A committee of artistic, managing and literary leaders from across the country selected plays by Kevin Artigue, Hilary Bettis, Kristiana Colon, Mfoniso Udofia, and Steve Yockey for the twelfth installment of the Showcase.
