City Theatre is thrilled to announce the details of the second show of the season: Pipeline by Dominique Morisseau. Pipeline is a powerful and poetic chronicle of injustice that exposes the cracks in our education system. It is directed by City Theatre's Artistic Producer, Reginald L. Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2018 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to rewrite scenes, add or delete songs, revise and refine, allowing audiences to return and watch the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of American theatre.
Khalil Kain & Ise Lyfe will Participate in One-Night-Only Performance of THE MERCY SUITE

La MaMa Experimental Theater Club is thrilled to announce that its one-night-only anniversary performance of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Yusef Komunyakaa and Global Soul Music creator Tom s Doncker's 2007 collaboration, The Mercy Suite, will feature performances by acclaimed actor Khalil Kain ( Girlfriends ) and playwright Ise Lyfe. In addition to Mr. Kain and Mr. Lyfe, who are currently working together on the Off-Broadway debut of Lyfe's new play Agnus, the evening will feature performances by select cast members of The Pill by Marla Mase, which features original music by Mr. Doncker.

A family memoir featuring original music by composer and producer Tom s Doncker of True Groove, performances of The Pill will begin Thursday, January 25. The Fire This Time Festival Sets Inaugural Writers Group

For its seventh season the Obie Award winning The Fire This Time Festival has expanded to include an inaugural Writer's Group, which was created to help playwrights of African and African American descent develop new work during bi-monthly sessions over four months beginning in October, which will culminate in a public presentation of new works during the annual festival, January 18-Febraury 6, 2016 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery). The Fire This Time Festival Writer's Group, co-moderated by Cynthia G. Robinson (Nightfall in Season 4 of TFTT) and A.J. Muhammad (Assistant Producer of TFTT), aims to foster a nurturing, supportive and collaborative environment where playwrights can share work with their peers and receive constructive feedback during the early stages of developing a new project.
