BWW Interview: Louis Farber of PETER AND THE STARCATCHER at Brelby Theatre Company
by Jeanmarie Simpson
- Jan 3, 2017
I was attracted to Peter and the Starcatcher because of the script. It is an extremely well-crafted and an exceptionally inventive grown-up's prequel to Peter Pan where twelve actors play over 100 assorted characters, through the use animated characterization and the boundless limits of imagination. The actors enter a sparse stage and create a world for us where we face high adventure, big dreams, tough choices and flying; and the audience is asked to employ their imaginations immediately. The script is smart, tight, heartwarming and hilarious.

BWW Review: HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL at WPPAC
by Kathryn Kitt
- Oct 18, 2016
In 1989, I was a student at Bennington College, probably one of the most progressive and outwardly misunderstood student bodies in America. There were no 'Heathers' (popular girls) in the mix, but if there were, they enrolled against their parent's wishes.

No one is born to be a failure. No one is poor who has friends. Simple thoughts that were the inspiration for one of the richest, most uplifting, most beloved American films ever made. Frank Capra's classic tale of George Bailey and his Christmas Eve visit with a guardian angel was nominated for five Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor. After 70 years, it remains as powerful and moving as the day it was made.
BWW Blog: Sarah Kleist - HEATHERS the (Feminist) Musical
by Guest Blogger: WPPAC's HEATHERS

In recent years, theatre has seen a resurgence of musicals that align with some of the ideals of third wave feminism; HEATHERS by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy is one of those musicals. I love this show for many reasons; the catchy music, not to mention the hilarious book-but what I love most about this show is its progressive representation of femininity and sexuality. In an era where Donald Trump is the Republican candidate, this show is extremely important.
