Cortland Repertory Theatre has received a record-breaking eight nominations for the 2011 Syracuse Area Live Theatre (SALT) Awards, which recognize outstanding achievement in Central New York theatre. Hosted by the Syracuse New Times, the SALT Awards focus primarily on community theatre groups in Syracuse, but also recognizes regional summer theatres in their own categories.

Simon is best known for his cannon of wildly successful comedies, and is the only playwright in history to have four shows running on Broadway at the same time: 'The Odd Couple', 'Barefoot in the Park', 'The Star Spangled Girl' and the musical 'Sweet Charity'. He has been nominated 17 times for the Tony Award, has won 3, and also won the Pulitzer Prize for his semi-autobiographical comedy/drama 'Lost in Yonkers'. 'Rumors' is the only true farce that he has added to his extensive body of work.

Cortland Repertory Theatre has announced the nominees for their ninth annual 'Pavilion Awards' which recognize Outstanding Achievement in Local High School Theatre. For the fifth year, First Niagara Bank serves as the Corporate Sponsor for this program, which allows for many categories within the musical and non-musical genres. Musicals in consideration were held at the Cortland, Dryden, Groton, Homer, McGraw and Tully High Schools. Non-musical plays were also presented at Cortland, Homer and Tully.

Cortland Repertory Theatre, one of New York State's longest running professional summer theatres, will celebrate its 40th year of quality live theatre in the summer of 2011. Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson says 'Because CRT is so often called 'a gem of a theatre', the season will be dubbed 'The Ruby Jubilee' since the ruby is 40th anniversary gemstone.'
