Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment Commissioner Julie Menin today announced that A Day's Work, a new original series on NYC Life, the City's flagship broadcast network, will premiere on Monday, April 23 at 9:00 PM. A Day's Work is a half-hour show featuring industrious, real-life New Yorkers as they go about their jobs. The show's first season will focus on careers in the arts and entertainment industries. Each episode follows three people working in different aspects of the same field to provide viewers with a sense of the breadth of jobs in that particular industry. New episodes each week will focus on different fields, including dance, publishing, and the fast-growing field of virtual reality.
Last night at the Minskoff Theatre, The Lion King celebrated a huge milestone- 20 years on Broadway. Creative team members Julie Taymor, Tim Rice, Garth Fagan, Lebo M., Mark Mancina, Roger Allers, and Irene Mecchi joined hundreds of alumni and others for a special performance of the show, culminating in a surprise performance by The Lion King's Tony-nominated composer Elton John.
The holiday season is not complete without the perfect music to accompany it. 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' is the latest compilation album that embodies the spirit of the season like nothing else can. A project born completely out of love, 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' pairs the casts from famous Broadway musicals with songs that are both classic and new. The result is pure gold that will make you reach for the 'repeat' button over and over again.
A great, big Broadway season is on its way, with fourteen productions already slated to open in the next few months. With several weeks until the craziness begins, there is still plenty of time to catch up on what's been going on at Broadway's already occupied theaters .
BroadwayWorld will be profiling the hits of the Great White Way that continue to draw crowds after months, years, and (in some cases) decades. Meet the current cast of Broadway's The Lion King below!
