Last night, June 14, The Town Hall celebrated the Broadway By The Year® 10th Anniversary Celebration - Broadway By The Year 1990-2010, Created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for the Town Hall, the Broadway performers included Norm Lewis (The Little Mermaid, Sondheim on Sondheim), Karen Mason (Mama Mia!), Astaire Award-winner Spencer Liff (Cry- Baby), Michael Winther (Mama Mia!), Douglas Ladnier (Jekyll & Hyde), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), four-time Tony® Award nominee Gregg Edelmann (Tale of Two Cities), Alexander Gemignani (Les Miserables), Tony® Award winner Debbie Gravitte, Kendrick Jones (The Scottsboro Boys), three-time Tony® Award nominee Mark Kudisch (9 to 5), Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert (Ragtime), Julia Murney (Wicked), Max Von Essen (Xanadu national tour), Tony ® Award nominee Barbara Wash (Company) and Lari White (Ring of Fire). The Town Hall is pleased to announce Broadway By The Year's® 10th Anniversary Celebration - Broadway By The Year 1990-2010 on Monday, June 14th at 8PM. This acclaimed series, devoted to the music and history of The Great White Way, will have a cast of 21 and a new format, featuring one song, from one show, for each year between 1990 and 2010.
Last night, May 23, the Drama Desk Association hosted the 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Former Drama Desk Award winner Patti LuPone hosted the ceremony, which honored the best of Broadway and off in the 2009-2010 season. The cast of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, which ended its twice extended, sold-out run at Vineyard Theatre on Sunday, April 18, will record an Original Cast Album of the musical on Friday, April 23rd, it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre Artistic Director Douglas Aibel. The cast album of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will be recorded and released by JAY Records. Release date TBA.
