'Broadway's Rising Stars' Plays Summer Bway Festival, 7/20

The Town Hall presents the Fourth Annual Summer Broadway Festival created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for The Town Hall. Presented on three consecutive Monday nights in July at 8PM are BROADWAY WINNERS: THE AWARD-WINNING MUSIC OF BROADWAY! on July 12th, BROADWAY'S RISING STARS on July 19th, and ALL SINGIN' ALL DANCIN' on July 26th. The evenings will feature music and dance coupled with witty insider tidbits, all performed by Broadway's finest. Tickets for BROADWAY WINNERS and ALL SINGIN' ALL DANCIN' are $50 and $40. Tickets for BROADWAY'S RISING STARS are $30 and $25. Initial Cast Announced for THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS; IDIOT's Henry Joins Cast

Initial casting has been announced for the Broadway production of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, the exhilarating new Kander & Ebb musical. Following a sold out, critically acclaimed and award-winning run Off-Broadway, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will open on Broadway on Sunday, October 31 at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street). Previews will begin on Thursday, October 7.

Last night, June 14, The Town Hall celebrated the Broadway By The Year® 10th Anniversary Celebration - Broadway By The Year 1990-2010, Created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel for the Town Hall, the Broadway performers included Norm Lewis (The Little Mermaid, Sondheim on Sondheim), Karen Mason (Mama Mia!), Astaire Award-winner Spencer Liff (Cry- Baby), Michael Winther (Mama Mia!), Douglas Ladnier (Jekyll & Hyde), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), four-time Tony® Award nominee Gregg Edelmann (Tale of Two Cities), Alexander Gemignani (Les Miserables), Tony® Award winner Debbie Gravitte, Kendrick Jones (The Scottsboro Boys), three-time Tony® Award nominee Mark Kudisch (9 to 5), Tony® Award nominee Bobby Steggert (Ragtime), Julia Murney (Wicked), Max Von Essen (Xanadu national tour), Tony ® Award nominee Barbara Wash (Company) and Lari White (Ring of Fire). Broadway by the Year 1990-2010 was directed by Nightlife Award winner Scott Coulter, who also performed in the show.

Last night, May 23, the Drama Desk Association hosted the 55th Annual Drama Desk Awards ceremony at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall at Lincoln Center. Former Drama Desk Award winner Patti LuPone hosted the ceremony, which honored the best of Broadway and off in the 2009-2010 season. BroadwayWorld.com provided live coverage on the site throughout the ceremony and was on hand at the event to capture the starry arrivals.

Original Cast Album of Kander & Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS Recorded Today

The cast of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, which ended its twice extended, sold-out run at Vineyard Theatre on Sunday, April 18, will record an Original Cast Album of the musical on Friday, April 23rd, it has been announced by Vineyard Theatre Artistic Director Douglas Aibel. The cast album of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS will be recorded and released by JAY Records. Release date TBA.

Kander and Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS Ends Run April 18

The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15 Street) will end its run of the world-premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS on April 18. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS was previously scheduled to run through April 4.

Kander & Ebb's SCOTTSBORO BOYS Gets 2010 Run at Vineyard, Premieres 2/12

The Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre will present the world-premiere of the new musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS, with music and lyrics by Tony Award-winners John Kander and Fred Ebb, book by David Thompson and directed by Tony Award-winner Susan Stroman with musical direction by David Loud. Previews begin February 12, 2010 prior to an official opening date of March 10, it has been announced by Vineyard Artistic Director Douglas Aibel.

Kander and Ebb's THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS Extends Thru April 18

The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15 Street) has announced an additional two weeks will go on sale today for the world-premiere of THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS: starting Tuesday, March 9, seats for the musical will be on sale through April 18. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS was previously scheduled to run through April 4. Now in previews, THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS has its official opening night on March 10.

Lead by Tony Award-winning host David Hyde Pierce (Kander & Ebb's CURTAINS), the crowd paid tribute to the work of Kander and his late collaborator Fred Ebb.
