Jane Fonda Joins Cast of BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY

Deadline.com reports that Jane Fonda has joined the cast of the upcoming comedy BETTER LIVING THROUGH CHEMISTRY. The actress joins previously announced cast members Sam Rockwell, Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Ray Liotta, Ben Schwartz and Ken Howard.

FAUST Airs on PBS' 'Great Performances at the Met' Today, 5/13

Jonas Kaufmann, Marina Poplavskaya, and Rene Pape in New Production of Gounod's Faust on THIRTEEN's Great Performances at the Met, today, May 13 at 12 p.m. on PBS stations, with director Des McAnuff in his Met debut, with Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducting the classic opera for the first time at the Met, Three of the opera world's leading stars-Jonas Kaufmann, Marina Poplavskaya, and Rene Pape-sing the principal roles in a new production of Gounod's Faust, directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff in his Met debut. Yannick Nezet-Seguin conducts his first Met performances of the opera, which airs on THIRTEEN's Great Performances at the Met Sunday, May 13 at 12 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). In New York, THIRTEEN premiered the program Thursday, May 10 at 8:30 p.m. with an encore presentation today, May 13 at 12:30 p.m.

THE ENCHANTED ISLAND Airs on PBS' 'Great Performances at the Met', 5/18

The Enchanted Island, a world premiere work that combines Baroque music with a new, English-language libretto featuring characters from Shakespeare's The Tempest and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a starry cast including Danielle de Niese, Joyce DiDonato, David Daniels, Plácido Domingo, and Luca Pisaroni, will air on THIRTEEN's Great Performances at the Met Friday, May 18 at 9 p.m. on PBS (check local listings).

Review - A Streetcar Named Desire & Evita

In every previous Broadway production of Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire, a white Blanche DuBois has complained that her sister Stella's white husband Stanley has “something downright bestial about him.”  She refers to him as “sub-human” and “ape-like.”  And depending on her co-star's performance, audience members might have agreed with her to some extent.

Briga Heelan to Star in ABC Comedy Pilot COUNTER CULTURE

According to TVGuide.com, Briga Heelan has joined the cast of the upcoming ABC comedy pilot COUNTER CULTURE. The actress joins previously announced cast members Margo Martindale, Delta Burke, Kerri Kenney, Ken Howard and Doris Roberts.

SAG, AFTRA Members Approve Merger to Form SAG-AFTRA

The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Screen Actors Guild have just announced that members of both organizations have overwhelmingly voted to approve a merger, creating a new entity, SAG-AFTRA. SAG members voted 82 percent in favor of the merger. AFTRA members favored the merger with 86 percent, exceeding the 60 percent threshold needed for both unions' membership for passage.

Nominations Announced for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards

Nominees for the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards for outstanding performances in 2011 in five film and eight primetime television categories and for the SAG honors for outstanding action performances by film and television stunt ensembles were announced this morning in Los Angeles at the Pacific Design Center's SilverScreen Theater in West Hollywood.
