Festival Napa Valley Announces 2019 Summer Season

Festival Napa Valley, recognized for transforming California Wine Country into a cultural destination, announces its 2019 summer season, July 12 - 21. The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing will be celebrated with more than 60 concerts and events in a season of innovation, exploration and discovery.

Ocean Luminaries Explore Ocean Mysteries at American Museum of Natural History

Join the brightest minds in economics, art, conservation, and exploration for Ocean Luminaries, an evening of dynamic discussions and performances by Museum scientists, artists, oceanographers, and entrepreneurs to kick off the special exhibition Unseen Oceans. This lively event, held under the blue whale in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, illuminates the cutting-edge in marine research and inspires wonder about the world's oceans. 

American Museum of Natural History Announces Unseen Oceans Exhibit

Our world is truly an ocean planet. More than 70 percent of the world's surface is covered by oceans, which contain 99 percent of all habitable space for life on Earth. The oceans are responsible for the production of nearly half of the world's oxygen and for the absorption of a significant portion of greenhouse gases, making them essential to the health and well-being of all life on Earth. But surprisingly, only 5 10 percent of the ocean's vast realms have been explored a staggering gap in knowledge.

Joffrey Ballet Showcases Choreographers of Color in WINNING WORKS Program Today

CHICAGO - The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago presents four World Premieres in the fifth annual "Winning Works" program, the culmination of the 2015 Choreographers of Color Awards. Three of the new works come from this year's Award winners Jennifer Archibald, Abdul Latif and Stephanie Martinez. The fourth piece is a new workby Joffrey Academy Artistic Director Alexei Kremnev called Windy Sand with original music by Karen LeFrak. All four works are performed by dancers from the Joffrey Studio Company and the Joffrey Academy Trainee Program. The Joffrey Academy of Dance's "Winning Works" program is presented at a new venue in 2015, the Edlis Neeson Theater at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E. Chicago Avenue, over three performances: today, March 7 at 3 pm and 7:30 pm and Sunday, March 8 at 3 pm.

Young People's Concerts Continue with SUPER SONIC MUSIC BOX, 1/24

The New York Philharmonic Young People's Concerts (YPCs) continue Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with the program "New York Transformed," the second in this season's series, SUPER SONIC MUSIC BOX, exploring the variety of symphonic music and its interpretation.

Shanghai Orchestra Academy Opens Inaugural Year

The inaugural class of the Shanghai Orchestra Academy (SOA) -- founded by the New York Philharmonic, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and Shanghai Conservatory of Music -- begins studies with two weeks of coaching and master classes in Shanghai by nine New York Philharmonic musicians, September 4-12.

New York Theatre Ballet Presents Chase Brock's BARK! IN THE PARK and THE FIREBIRD, 2/23-24

New York Theatre Ballet's (NYTB) 2012-2013 season will debut an all-new ballet, Bark! In The Park with choreography by Chase Brock of Broadway's hit Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, and story and music by Karen LeFrak paired with the perennial favorite Russian folk tale, The Firebird today, February 23 and tomorrow, the 24th. Both productions will join Sleeping Beauty, Goose! and Peter & the Wolf in its series of perfect 1-hour ballets for kids and families.

Whales: Giants of the Deep Exhibition Opens at American Museum of Natural History, March 23

Whales: Giants of the Deep will 'transport visitors to the vibrant underwater world of the mightiest animals on Earth. The exhibition explores the latest research about these marine mammals as well as the central role they have played for thousands of years in human cultures. From the traditions of New Zealand's Maori whale riders and the Kwakwaka'wakw peoples of the Pacific Northwest to the international whaling industry and the rise of laws protecting whales from commercial hunting, the exhibition traces the close connections between humans and whales.'

BWW Reviews: BARK IN THE PARK Treats Young Audiences to Ballet

Ballet at its best connects the audience to the art of dance and succeeds in captivating them with a story or theme. Bark in the Park by The New York Theatre Ballet did just that with their debut performance at El Museo Del Barrio at 1230 Fifth Avenue in New York City on Tuesday, February 5th. Young and old alike were fascinated as NYTB dancers performed the story of the Tucker family who lose their beloved family dog, Mr. Benjamin, in Central Park.

Youth America Grand Prix Presents Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow, 4/27

Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) presents "Stars of Today Meet the Stars of Tomorrow" on Friday, April 27 at 7:00 PM at David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center. This annual event has become synonymous with the discovery of new dancers, choreographers, and companies, featuring the performances of international ballet stars and introducing the world's brightest young dance talent -- finalists from the 2012 competition. The evening's program includes world premieres choreographed by Ji?i Buben??ek, Marcelo Gomes, and Justin Peck, and NYC debuts by Yonah Acosta and Friedemann Vogel, and performances by a select group of 2012 YAGP finalists, plus celebrity masters of ceremonies Ana Gasteyer (SNL) and Brian d'Arcy James (Shrek the Musical, Next to Normal, Smash). Tickets for the performance are $45, $75, $100, $150.
