SILENCE! The Musical is adding Sunday performances beginning this weekend, kicking off its new Spring schedule. Following the announcement that SILENCE! would be ending its long run at the end of 2012, ticket sales unexpectedly soared, shattering all previous box office records held by the show. Subsequently, the producers determined that the production would reopen on January 19th. After opening initially at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews, SILENCE! was extended numerous times by popular demand and transferred theatres twice, ultimately landing at the new Elektra Theatre which was constructed especially for the show.
An expanded live music component with concerts by Lydia Loveless, Corey Harris, Pontiak and a Funk Rock Soul triple bill with the funky METERS, Greyboy Allstars and JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound; CIMMpathy for The Stones, celebrating The Rolling Stones' 50 years of music on film; a special film section, award ceremony and concert with maverick filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles; an evening of music and movies with the legendary Van Dyke Parks and his filmmaker son, Richard; a Blues film section; 11 World Premiere screenings; and much more highlight the 5th annual Chicago International Movies & Music Festival (CIMMfest No. 5). The four-day festival annually brings together filmmakers, musicians and devotees from around the world for a celebration of movies and music at various venues centered around Chicago's Wicker Park and Logan Square neighborhoods, with a satellite location at the Music Box Theatre, Thursday, April 18 - Sunday, April 21.

In March, audiences will have a rare opportunity to see two live, New York debut performances of late Israeli dance composer, theorist, and textile artist Noa Eshkol's work. Four dancers from The Noa Eshkol Chamber Dance Group-ranging from their 30s to early 70s-will be coming from Israel to New York City for these special dance events: Mor Bashan, Noga Goral, Racheli Nul-Kahana, and Ruti Sela.
The City of New York Parks & Recreation is has announced the photography exhibition New York City of Trees by Benjamin Swett. Twenty-nine color portraits of trees around the five boroughs take the viewer up close to some of the extraordinary species that grow along the streets and in the parks, cemeteries, gardens, and backyards of the city. On view in the Arsenal Gallery from March 6 through April 26 (Arbor Day and Frederick Law Olmsted's birthday), the images have been selected from Swett's forthcoming book New York City of Trees, to be released by the Quantuck Lane Press on March 6.
The Cincinnati Arts Association has announced the winners of its 2013 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition, held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater. The competition annually awards $3,000 scholarships to six area students for post-secondary education, with 18 runners-up each winning $500 scholarships.
Fine Lines: American Drawings from the Brooklyn Museum, the first exhibition presented in the newly renovated Robert E. Blum Gallery on the first floor, presents a selection of more than a hundred rarely seen drawings and sketchbooks produced between 1768 and 1945 from the Brooklyn Museum's exceptional collection. The exhibition will feature the work of more than seventy artists, including John Singleton Copley, Stuart Davis, Thomas Eakins, William Glackens, Marsden Hartley, Winslow Homer, Edward Hopper, Eastman Johnson, Georgia O'Keeffe, John Singer Sargent, and Benjamin West. Among the works on display will be Gaston Lachaise's Back of a Nude Woman (1929), Winslow Homer's Two Girls in Field (1871), and William Merritt Chase's Shinnecock Hills (circa 1895). Investigating the place of drawing within the broader history of American art before 1945, Fine Lines showcases a variety of subjects, styles, and practices and demonstrates the variety and vitality of the graphic arts in America across nearly two centuries.
Casting has been announced for the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center 's engagement of DISNEY'S THE LION KING. The Fox Cities 'most eagerly awaited stage production ever will leap onto the Center' s stage from Tuesday, April 9 to Sunday, May 5. The press opening night is Thursday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. The show's six-week premiere engagement in 2007 played a sold-out run at the Fox Cities P.A.C.
