Theater To Go to Host MARY POPPINS Sing-Along at Kelsey Theatre, 8/2-4

Audiences can travel back to jolly ol' England as Theater To Go presents an interactive presentation of the Oscar-winning Disney classic film "Mary Poppins" at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre. The movie sing-along will take place on Friday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 3 at 2 p.m.; and Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road.

Our 36th Kritzerland show is devoted to the brilliant songs of Meredith Willson and Gene de Paul. Producer Bruce Kimmel has recorded many songs by each and is thrilled to do an entire evening of their wonderful material. Meredith Willson, of course, gave Broadway one of its most enduring hits, THE MUSIC MAN, a musical filled with one amazing song after another, several of which we'll be doing. He also wrote the Broadway and film hit, THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN, HERE'S LOVE (based on MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET), and a musical about Christopher Columbus called 1491 that never made it to Broadway.

It'll be a grand night for singing on Wednesday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. as Christopher Bell conducts the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus in a salute to the legendary team of Rodgers and Hammerstein at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park. Joined by guest artists Rebecca Luker, Doug LaBrecque and William Michals, they will showcase the music of Oklahoma, South Pacific, The King and I, Carousel and The Sound of Music by Rodgers and Hammerstein, along with favorites from Kern and Hammerstein and Rodgers and Hart. The concert is free.

Disney's beloved film, MARY POPPINS appears on the big screen today at 2pm and 8pm at the historic Redford Theatre. The 1964 musical film stars Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke, David Tomlinson, and Glynis Johns, and is based on the Mary Poppins books series by P. L. Travers.

Carol Burnett, America's beloved comedienne, is teaming up with legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne at the Music Academy of the West this month for coaching sessions with the young vocalists who will headline this year's Cabaret gala on August 8, which benefits the Music Academy's full-scholarship program. Ms. Burnett, as the Academy's Cabaret Creative Contributor, and Ms. Horne, Voice Program Director, will instruct Music Academy Voice Fellows in the art of musical comedy, both in private classes and individually. The renowned Summer School and Festival, now in its 66th season, runs through August 10 in scenic Santa Barbara.
Bay Street's Summer Musical Theater Camps to Kick Off 7/22

Bay Street Theatre is pleased to announce its week long Summer Music Theater Camps July 22-26; August 5-9; and August 12-16. The camps are for students aged 8 through 12, and run Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 12:30 pm daily at Studio 3 in Bridgehampton. Each week long camp includes many aspects of theatre including improv, vocal instruction, dance and more. This summer's first and last week of camp will be led by Karen Peele Hochstedler. Classes held during August 5-9 will be led by Christine Martinez and Bobby Peterson.

Audra McDdonald dropped GO BACK HOME, her first solo album in seven years, on May 21. The album produced by Nonesuch records brings McDonald to her roots as it features classic songs by iconic songwriters like LaChiusa, Rodgers & Hammerstein, and Stephen Sondheim. McDonald has a personal connection to the tracks she chose. She told Nonsesuch of the songs featured on her album 'If there were a Broadway show written about my life, especially the last seven years, this would be the soundtrack.'

Enrollment applications are being accepted now for Segerstrom Center's Six Days of Broadway summer musical theater camp, which returns to the Center's campus June 24 through July 7. Students will participate in week-long intensives that feature classes in musical performance, monologue interpretation, audition technique, scene work, dance and more. Ogunquit Playhouse's YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN to Open 7/10

Transylvania mania is about to take over the Ogunquit Playhouse when Mel Brooks' hysterical musical comedy Young Frankenstein hits the stage July 10 through July 27. The Ogunquit Playhouse is recreating the Broadway musical, complete with Tony-nominated sets by Robin Wagner and the original Broadway costumes by multi-Tony Award winner, William Ivey Long. Eye-popping special effects and show stopping musical numbers, including 'Puttin' on the Ritz' complete with tap dancing monsters, round out this monstrously fun show.
