Yet, on the horizon looms a brand new national tour of the tuner set to star a brand new discovery named Kerstin Anderson in the role of Maria Von Trapp alongside a fresh-faced cast including Ben Davis, Ashley Brown, Merwin Foard, Dan Tracy and more, all under the direction of Jack O'Brien. Considering the legendary legacy of the beloved title, now is an ideal time to list ten of my personal favorite things pertaining to the rich history of the musical on stages and screens both large and small.

In honor of Sally Ann Howes' birthday, Rick McKay, the producer/director of THE GOLDEN AGE FILM TRILOGY, just unveiled a clip of Howes from the documentary film series in which she talks about Rex Harrison's frustration with young actresses playing Eliza in MY FAIR LADY, and why, at the end of his career, he wanted Howes to come back and play the role one more time. Orange County, Calif.—July 7, 2015—“Symphony in the Cities” is not only the perfect way to end a lazy summer day, but it's also Pacific Symphony's way of saying thanks to the community by throwing a big party with music for its Orange County neighbors! Each summer, thousands gather with their loved ones to enjoy listening to the orchestra in a relaxed outdoor setting. This season, in addition to patriotic fare and classical pieces, Music Director Carl St.Clair has invited five singers to pay tribute to the famous von Trapps by performing memorable songs from one of the most beloved musicals of all time, “The Sound of Music.” Members of the audience also have a special opportunity to decide which of three well-known excerpts they would like to hear: Dvorák's Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” Mozart's “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik (A Little Night Music),” or Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. Families are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and chairs and arrive early for the Symphony's Musical Playground and city festivities.
