Dayton Playhouse is delighted to present the final production of our 2009/2010 Mainstage Season, Gypsy - opening May 7, 2010 and running through May 23.

Today, in honor of the DVD release of Rob Marshall's film version of the 1982 Tony-winning Best Musical NINE, Maury Yeston was gracious and generous enough to grant me a few hours in which I could ask him intimate questions about his life, career and the future of theatre itself. Not one to mince words, Yeston is a veritable font of knowledge and it became clear during the interview that he may be as gifted and talented in his educational and mentorship skills as he is as a two-time Tony-winning composer and lyricist. His stage musicals include two Tony-winning Best Musicals, NINE and TITANIC, as well as: IN THE BEGINNING, GRAND HOTEL, PHANTOM, and the forthcoming DEATH TAKES A HOLIDAY, as well as a full-length ballet of TOM SAWYER premiering later this year. From the handwritten letter sent by Katharine Hepburn to Frederico Fellini after seeing the workshop of NINE thirty years ago to this very day when NINE hits DVD, we will take a look at this magnanimous maestro's starry career in this inaugural InDepth InterView. This week, we are taking a look and a listen to one of the foremost interpreters of song - whether originating from the stage, film, the Great American songbook, world music, tailor-made-music and virtually everything else - the legendary Barbra Streisand. Nothing can be said that hasn't been said about Ms. Streisand, she is a star unlike any other, but her recent intimate concert before 120 lucky audience members on September 26 of last year - marking her fortieth anniversary in show business - is perhaps her most arresting concert ever preserved on home video, a feat in itself considering her past pitch-perfect television specials. Let's not focus on the way we were, but more how we are today: in the case of Ms. Streisand, simply irresistible.

New York City Center's 2010-2011 Encores! season will open with the 1956 Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green musical Bells Are Ringing, November 18 - 21, 2010. The season will continue with Kurt Weill and Maxwell Anderson's Lost in the Stars, February 3 - 6, 2011, followed by Frank Loesser's and George Abbott's Where's Charley?, March 17 - 20.

June 29 will mark the 100th birthday of Frank Loesser, the iconic composer and lyricist who wrote over 700 songs and five Broadway musicals and contributed music and lyrics to dozens of Hollywood films during his 40-year long career.

The American Theatre Wing has announced that their Annual Spring Gala, to be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Cipriani 42nd Street (110 East 42nd Street), will celebrate the centennial of Academy and Tony Award-winning composer Frank Loesser.

The Attic Theatre's production of Side By Side By Sondheim will end its run on May 2nd. The production was originally set to close April 18th.

Tony Award winner Sutton Foster performed her solo show 'An Evening with Sutton Foster' at the Kirk Douglas Theatre on April 29 and 30. Foster was accompanied by her Musical Director Michael Rafter. Songs for the evening were drawn from her critically-acclaimed debut solo album Wish and from the stage roles that have helped make her famous, such as Thoroughly Modern Millie and The Drowsy Chaperone.

The Farmington Players Present GYPSY April 30 through May 22 at the Barn Theatre. The production is directed by Jason Wilhoite, with musical direction by Rachel Rose and choreography by Allison Soranno.

FMPAT will present it's Young Artist Training Program's production of Peter Pan, lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne, and book by J.M. Barrie. This production is directed by Stephanie Riggs with musical direction by Adam C. Wright from April 28 to May 8.

42nd Street Moon will end its current run of Klea Blackhurst in her highly-acclaimed one-woman show, Everything the Traffic Will Allow: The Songs and Sass of Ethel Merman on April 25 at the Eureka Theatre.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed 'Best of New York' by New York Magazine, and 'an invaluable New York institution' by The New York Post, continues its Spring 2010 season with the return of the young identical twin brothers WILL & ANTHONY NUNZIATA after two sold-out performances last fall. Their new show, 'From Pelham to Park Avenue,' will run from April 20 to April 24.
