La Jolla Playhouse announced today the addition of the world-premiere musical Bonnie & Clyde, to its 2009-10 season, replacing The Big Time. This production features music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel), lyrics by Tony Award-winner Don Black (Sunset Boulevard, Song and Dance), book by Ivan Menchell (The Cemetery Club, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), and direction by Jeff Calhoun (Deaf West's Big River and Pippin, Grease!). Bonnie & Clyde will run November 10 - December 20, 2009 in the Playhouse's Mandell Weiss Theatre.

The award-winning Musical Theatre Guild, a company of professional performers who present concert-staged readings of seldom seen musicals, will continue its 14th season with the Jule Styne/Comden & Green musical: FADE OUT - FADE IN. The opening performance will take place on Monday, November 9, 2009 at 7:30 PM at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale. A second and final performance will occur on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Bank of America Performing Arts Center's Scherr Forum.

While once the reigning champion of holiday broadcasts, and the first animated Christmas special to be produced specifically for television in the 1960s, Mr. Magoo has since taken a back seat to such flashier programs as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas over the years.
