Judi Dench is out of tonight's performance of Madame de Sade which opened this week to the press. A statement from Delfont Mackintosh and The Donmar explains the situation
'As Judi Dench was leaving the theatre last night she tripped at the stage door and fell. She was taken to A&E where she was diagnosed with a severely sprained ankle. Doctors have advised that she bring no weight to bear on her foot for the time being. As a consequence, Judi?s role of Madame de Montreuil will be performed this weekend by her understudy Marjorie Hayward. The Donmar and Judi apologise for any upset or inconvenience this may cause, and wish to reassure those with tickets that it is her intention to return to the role next week'

Sean Mathias will direct Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot which is his first production as Artistic Director of the 2009 Theatre Royal Haymarket Company. Waiting for Godot will tour the UK prior to its opening in London in April.
