Seattle's ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) presents Richard Dresser's take on corporate drudgery with 'Below the Belt'. Starring TV and stage comedy veteran Judd Hirsch, they are billing this as 'The Office' meets Samuel Beckett. But it plays more like a cliché sitcom than a social commentary.
Intiman Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Bartlett Sher and Managing Director Brian Colburn, will present a special conversation between actors Judd Hirsch, John Procaccino and Matthew Boston about the work of playwright Herb Gardner on Monday, June 1 at 7 pm. The 2008/2009 POW! Professional Performance season concludes in May 16, 2009 with a rare live appearance by the peerless screen legend Eva Marie Saint (On the Waterfront, Raintree County, North by Northwest, etc.).

Intiman will offer a pay-what-you-can performance (with a $5 suggested minimum per ticket) on Friday, May 22 at 8 pm. This production is recommended for ages 12 and up.

A Contemporary Theatre announces adjustments and additions to its 45th Anniversary Season. Rounding out the six-play Mainstage season is the corporate comedy Below the Belt (May 22-June 21, previously listed as TBA), starring acclaimed film and television actor Judd Hirsch. On November 15th the Catskills come to Brooklyn as NACL Theatre (North American Cultural Laboratory, www.nacl.org) hosts the BORSCHT BASH, a party to benefit the theatre and its NYC premiere of 'THE UNCANNY APPEARANCE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES' this December at HERE Arts Center in Soho. Second Stage Theatre (Carole Rothman, Artistic Director; Ellen Richard, Executive Director) will kick off its 30th Anniversary Season with a new production of Howard Korder's comedy, BOYS' LIFE, directed by Michael Greif starting tonight, October 2nd. The official opening will be Monday, October 20th. This 20th Anniversary production of BOYS' LIFE will feature Jason Biggs, Rhys Coiro, and Peter Scanavino as 'the boys' as well as Dan Colman, Michelle Federer, Betty Gilpin, Paloma Guzman, Laura-Leigh, and Stephanie March.
