Long Wharf Theatre Presents SYLVIA 2/17-3/14

Beloved playwright A.R. Gurney, a Connecticut resident and author of the plays The Cocktail Hour, The Dining Room and Love Letters, returns to Long Wharf Theatre with his hit comedy Sylvia.

NEXT FALL Begins Previews on Broadway, 2/16

Barbara Manocherian, Richard Willis and Anthony Barrile in association with Naked Angels (Geoffrey Nauffts, Artistic Director; John Alexander, Managing Director; Andy Donald, Associate Artistic Director; Brittany O'Neill, Producer) are pleased to announce that the critically acclaimed original cast will return for the Broadway run of NEXT FALL, the new American play by Geoffrey Nauffts and directed by Sheryl Kaller. The production will open on Broadway on Thursday, March 11, 2010 with preview performances beginning Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Helen Hayes Theatre (240 West 44th Street).

DISTRACTED Makes Chicago Premiere At American Theatre Co 1/28/2010

American Theater Company (ATC) continues its 25th anniversary season with the Chicago premiere of Distracted, written by Lisa Loomer. The production is directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli and will run January 28 - February 28, 2010 at American Theater Company, 1909 W. Byron Street, Chicago. Press Opening is to be determined.

Santa Monica Playhouse & The Lord Chamberlain's Players present the Los Angeles premiere of New York-based Actor Mary MacDonald Hamill's solo show 'William & Mary (in Search of the Miraculous)' written and performed by Hamill with excerpts from William Shakespeare and incidental music by Michael Welsh, and directed by Rod Menzies. For two performances only, opening Sunday, January 17, 2010.

Casting Legend Shirley Rich Dies at 87

Longtime casting director Shirley Rich passed away on December 28th, 2009 at the age of 87 in Greenwich Connecticut of natural causes. Referred to by the New York Times as the 'doyenne of New York casting directors,' Rich's career covered Broadway plays and Hollywood films, with actors such as Judd Hirsch, Sean Penn, and Tom Cruise.

Mitzi Gaynor Talks About Celebrating South Pacific's 50th Anniversary

What can one do but stand in awe of the legendary accomplishments of Mitzi Gaynor! Motion picture star of over 17 films, including her Golden Globe nominated performance as Nellie Forbush in the 1958 blockbuster musical South Pacific, TV star of 9 spectacular musical specials that garnered 17 Emmy nominations, and night club performer extraordinaire in Las Vegas and touring the entire US and Canada, this lady has done it all. As part of this season's month long tribute to Richard Rodgers by Reprise Theatre Company and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Joshua Logan's film South Pacific, Miss Gaynor will appear onstage this Thursday, October 15 at the Majestic Crest Theatre in Westwood.

Michael Fischetti to Host Poetry Reading at Cape May Stage, 10/19

New York actor, teacher, and producer, Michael Fischetti will be at Cape May Stage on Monday evening, October 19 at 8 p.m. reading a collection of poetry about the human condition in a time of war called We Are All Brothers: Anti-War Poetry Through the Ages. As we debate our nation's involvement in Afghanistan, Mr. Fischetti will repeat his New York triumph with poems from Homer to Owen to our most contemporary voices in the Equity theatre's Second Stage Series. Performing a selection of timeless pieces that Fischetti selected, this performance is sure to challenge certain beliefs, raise questions, and inspire future discussions.

Robert Redford will be at BAM in-person to discuss his work as one of the 20th century's most celebrated actors and as an Academy-award winning director, as well as a leading environmental and social change activist, and champion of independent cinema as founder of The Sundance Institute.

Paper Mill's Angelo Del Rossi to be Honored at Sardi's 7/16

Angelo Del Rossi, who helmed the famed Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn , New Jersey for forty years and launched the careers of many performers such as Kristin Chenoweth, Anne Hathaway and Laura Benanti, will be honored at Sardi's Thursday, July 16.
