Miamians pride themselves in living in the city where everyone vacations. If there is a list of cities that know how to party, Miami would be at the top. And there is no greater time to celebrate being in the Magic City than in Summer. Summer in Miami means schools out, trips to the beach, tan lines, and SUMMER SHORTS! SUMMER SHORTS has been the official start to the theatre summer season for twenty-four years and last night's opening night was no exception. While the Arsht Center was celebrating National Pride Month outside with all kinds of fun events from Drag Shows to live music, inside the opening night of SUMMER SHORTS was in full swing. The who's who of Miami Theatre gathered in a packed house. Stepping into what felt like a Beach Party film of the 1960s, the party was underway. Images of typical summer fun from Surfboards and flipflops found everywhere along with palm tree cutouts and a photo opt right at the entrance.

Garsson established a reputation for bringing provocative, little known plays to Arts Garage in Delray Beach for a season and a half, before the theatre program was abruptly terminated by incoming, fledgling CEO Marjorie Waldo. Though he may have initially felt disappointed that he was not given enough time to establish his brand and develop a following at Arts Garage, Garsson simply regrouped and brought his vision and his company, Primal Forces, to Ft. Social anthropologist Ken (Carlos Orizondo) has lived with them, studied them, and written a book about them and he's trying to help them survive. So he brings in a genetic anthropologist Jillian (an outstanding Betsy Graver) to draw their blood and from this discover why the diabetes.

This riveting behind-the-scenes look at President Lyndon B. Johnson's (LBJ) tumultuous first year in office in the wake of President Kennedy's assassination has earned accolades from audiences and critics alike, from its start at Oregon Shakespeare Festival to its powerful Broadway run and most recent HBO Films adaptation starring four-time Emmy® winner Bryan Cranston. Artistic Director David Arisco directs this limited engagement production that will run March 22 - April 9, 2017 at the Miracle Theatre.
Arts Garage's first play of the season puts a new spin on family drama bringing together a collection of characters rarely combined before. The story introduces us to Charlotte, who is now in college, and whose relationship with her childhood best friend is raising red flags with her parents. She's Jewish, he's black. So her parents have to scramble to keep up as Charlotte and Jonny's sexual desires complicate everyone's relationships in surprising, compulsive ways.
