Actors Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre Announces Complete Cast for ALL THE WAY

Political intrigue will take center stage as Actors' Playhouse prepares to open the Tony Award-winning drama All The Way by Pultizer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan. This riveting behind-the-scenes look at President Lyndon B. Johnson's (LBJ) tumultuous first year in office in the wake of President Kennedy's assassination has earned accolades from audiences and critics alike, from its start at Oregon Shakespeare Festival to its powerful Broadway run and most recent HBO Films adaptation starring four-time Emmy® winner Bryan Cranston. Artistic Director David Arisco directs this limited engagement production that will run March 22 - April 9, 2017 at the Miracle Theatre.

Hailed as "dramatically dazzling" (Baltimore Sun) and "powerful" (Chicago Sun-Times), All the Way follows LBJ during his early administration, as he stakes his presidency on what would be a historic, unprecedented Civil Rights Act. Johnson finds himself caught between the moral imperative of DR. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the expectations of the southern Democratic Party leaders who brought Johnson to power. As King battles to press Johnson while controlling more radical elements of the Civil Rights movement, Johnson navigates the bill through Congress, winning a landslide victory against Barry Goldwater, but causing the South to defect from the Democratic Party.

American film, stage and television actor J. Kenneth Campbell will play the lead role of LBJ. Campbell, last seen at Actors' Playhouse in the critically acclaimed production of Other Desert Cities, has appeared in seven Broadway productions and several films including "The Abyss," "Ulee's Gold," "Guess Who," "Mars Attacks!" and "The Only Good Indian." On television, Campbell's first featured role was on "Mod Squad." His daytime series roles include "General Hospital," "Search for Tomorrow," "Guiding Light," "Another World" and "All My Children." Among the four score mini-series and episodic serials, Mr. Campbell is best known for playing Ed Wingate on "Matlock."

Marckenson Charles, making his Actors' Playhouse debut, will portray the role of Martin Luther King, Jr. Charles won a Carbonell Award for his work in Superior Donuts at GableStage, as well as a Silver Palm Award for his outstanding performances in A Behanding in Spokane (also at GableStage) and Caldwell Theatre Company's world premiere of Michael McKeever's Stuff. His most recent television appearance was on the FOX hit series "Gotham."

Campbell and Charles are two of the 17 actors that will bring to life more than 60 historical figures, including Don Seward as Ralph Abernathy, Deborah L. Sherman as Lady Bird Johnson, Antoni Corone as J. Edgar Hoover, Tom Wahl as Hubert Humphrey, Gary Marachek as George Wallace, Peter Haig as Richard Russell, Chaz Mena as Robert McNamara, John Archie as Roy Wilkins, Candice Singleton as Coretta Scott King, Chase Gutzmore as Bob Moses, Jovon Jacobs as Stokely Carmichael, Michael Turner as Walter Jenkins, Christina Groom as Muriel Humphrey, Jerry Weinberg as Everett Dirksen and Michael Small as Stanley Levison.

The design and creative team for All The Way includes Scenic Design by Jodi Dellaventura, Lighting Design by Eric Nelson, Sound Design by Shaun Mitchell and Costume Design by Ellis Tillman.

The show will open on Friday, March 24 at 8 p.m. and play through April 9, 2017. Evening performances will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with afternoon matinees on Sunday at 3 p.m. A special weekday matinee is scheduled on Wednesday, March 29 at 2 p.m.

Director David Arisco will lead a discussion group with cast members and special guest Dr. Marvin Dunn following the performance on Friday, March 31, 2017 as part of the company's "Second Fridays" series. Dr. Dunn, a native Floridian, is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University. He co-authored "The Miami Riot of 1980: Crossing the Bounds" with Bruce Porter and "Black Miami in the Twentieth Century" (1997), "The Beast in Florida: A History of Anti-Black Violence" (2012) and "A History of Florida: Through Black Eyes" (2016). He has directed three documentary films: "Black Seminoles in the Bahamas: The Red Bays Story," "Murder on the Suwannee River: The Willie James Howard Story" and "Uncovering Rosewood." Dr. Dunn is a respected scholar in race and ethnic relations, and has appeared on numerous national television broadcasts and has been published in major newspapers throughout the country.

Tickets for weeknights and matinees are $57, and on Friday and Saturday evenings $64. The theatre offers 10 percent off all weekday performances for seniors and $15 student rush tickets to any performance 15 minutes prior to curtain with identification. Discounts are based on availability.
