Wendy Jones to Tribute Rosemary Clooney at Winter Park Playhouse This Winter

The Winter Park Playhouse will present a 'one night only' event Saturday February 25, 2017, featuring professional vocalist, actress and recording star Wendy Jones, in a one-woman tribute to Rosemary Clooney entitled Everything Is Rosie. Net proceeds will go to support the quality musical programming on The Playhouse mainstage and out in the community.

Alice Ripley to Launch 'Live From 16 Gramercy Park' Concert Series

The Players, the city's most fabled private social club for actors and artists, will kick off a new music series on October 28th with a performance by Tony Award-winning Broadway star Alice Ripley (Next to Normal) and music director John Fischer.

The Adobe Theater to Present MY THREE ANGELS

The Adobe Theater is presenting the delightfully offbeat Christmas comedy My Three Angels from December 1st through the 18th, 2016. Written by the husband and wife team of Samuel Spewack and Bella Spewack from the French play "La Cuisine des Anges" by Albert Husson, My Three Angels opened on Broadway on March 11th, 1953, directed by Jose Ferrer and starring Walter Slezak, Jerome Cowan, and Darren McGavin as the "Angels," and ran for 344 performances. It was brought to the big screen in 1955 as We're No Angels, with Michael Curtiz directing, and Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, and Aldo Ray as the three unlikely heroes.

The Players, the city's historic private social club for artists and patrons of the dramatic arts, today announced that theatre producer and media executive Michael Barra has been elected as its new president, building on the momentum of recent efforts that have reinvigorated the famed club.

SHE LOVES ME's Nicholas Barasch Named 2016 Dorothy Loudon Award Honoree

It was announced today by The Theatre World Awards Board of Directors, and The Dorothy Loudon Foundation, Broadway newcomer Nicholas Barasch, currently appearing in the Broadway revival of She Loves Me at Studio 54, will be honored with the 8th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award at the 72nd Annual Theatre World Awards Ceremony set for Monday evening, May 23, 2016 beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Circle in the Square Theatre (West 50th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue), home of the current 2015 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Fun Home.  The 2016 Theatre World winners will be announced shortly.

BEACHES Playwright Thom Thomas Passes Away at 80

THOM THOMAS, script writer for stage, TV and film, succumbed to acute leukemia in Los Angeles on December 2, 2015. Recently Thomas co-wrote with Iris Rainer Dart the book for Beaches, The Musical, adapted from Dart's popular novel. Beaches had a tryout in Chicago at the Drury Lane Theatre this past summer, and a Broadway transfer is pending availability of a theater. Currently Astrablu Media, Inc. holds the rights to Thomas's completed screenplay adaptation of the novel, Vanished, with production planned for spring of 2016.

Princeton's Triangle Club Returns to McCarter Theatre

Princeton's Famous Triangle Club will present the world premiere of its brand new original musical-comedy extravaganza, Tropic Blunder, at McCarter Theatre, Friday and Saturday, November 13and 14 at 8:00 PM and Sunday, November 15 at 2:00 PM.

A Noise Within Sets Fall Readings

A Noise Within (ANW), the acclaimed classical repertory theatre, presents two free, staged readings this fall: Are You Now or Have You Ever Been by Eric Bentley, directed by Apollo Dukakis, on Wednesday, November 11 at 7 pm; and, on Monday, November 16 at 7PM, in partnership with East West Players, The Recognition of Shakuntala by Kalidasa, translated by W. J. Johnson, directed by Jonathan Munoz-Proulx. Both readings are performed as part of Words Within, A Noise Within's ongoing series of free play readings by resident artists. Both readings take place at A Noise Within, 3352 East Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107.
