The Peace Center announces Peace Voices Songwriters, a new extension of the Peace Voices program. Spearheaded by Greenville's Edwin McCain and songwriter Maia Sharp, the program features a concert series with guest singer-songwriters. It also offers a workshop series for aspiring songwriters, which will culminate in a recorded song.

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC)announced several new performances in 2018, adding to its diverse lineup of shows in Santa Rosa. Country star Josh Turner makes his LBC debut Thursday, September 6; and Serial Killers LIVE on Stage, a live presentation of the popular Parcast podcast series, will be held Friday, October 19. By popular demand, a second show with comedian Jim Gaffigan has been added Thursday, August 9.

The Grand Ole Opry®, the show that made country music famous, will stage its first-ever show from the famed Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, TN on Sun., June 10 featuring Opry members Bobby Bare, Del McCoury Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Riders In The Skyas well as Brothers Osborne, LANCO, Nikki Lane, Lucie Silvas, and more. The Nashville-based Opry has rarely in its 92-year history taken its iconic show outside Music City, on those occasions visiting prestigious venues such as New York City's Carnegie Hall and Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center.

A rare fiddle that received national attention when it was mistakenly donated to a Goodwill store in Kansas City, will soon go on display at the Mountain Music Museum in Kingsport, Tennessee. The museum features artifacts that chronicle the history of regional music.

Superstar songwriters Rafe Van Hoy, Marla Cannon-Goodman, Dale Dodson, Waylon Payne, Don Sampson and Ronnie Bowman will pay tribute to Hank Cochran and Red Lane at 3rd & Lindsley (816 3rd Ave. South) on Wednesday, January 17 to benefit The Hank Cochran Pen Fund. Tickets are $10; doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30. The 501(c)(3) charity focuses its efforts on financially assisting songwriters with cancer.
