Clearwater Festival Pays Tribute to Pete & Toshi Seeger This Weekend

Great Hudson River Revival (Clearwater Festival) this weekend, June 21 and 22 in beautiful Croton Point Park, Croton-On-Hudson, NY marks the first event since the passing of its founders, musician and activist Pete Seeger and his wife Toshi Seeger. Clearwater 2014 promises to be a special celebration of the Seeger's and their legacy - hosting many Clearwater friends old and new, many of who will perform special musical tributes during the event.

WFUV to Broadcast Clearwater Festival, 6/21-22

WFUV (90.7 FM/wfuv.org) will be broadcasting live for the first time from Clearwater's Great Hudson River Revival at Croton Point Park in Croton-on-Hudson, NY, on both Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22. This year's festival, which is dedicated to founders Pete and Toshi Seeger, both of whom died in the past year, has a star-studded lineup. WFUV will be on-site broadcasting live from 2-9 p.m. on Saturday and 12-8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Virtually the entire WFUV air staff will be on hand to introduce the artists onstage, share backstage interviews and observations, and meet fans at the FUV booth.

Violinist Hilary Hahn's probing interpretations, technical virtuosity, and commitment to new music have brought her love of classical music to a diverse audience. At age 32, her international fame and recognition, including two Grammy Awards, multiple Diapason 'd'Or of the Year' and 'Preis der deutschen Schallplat-tenkritik' prizes, seven Echo Klassik awards, and the 2008 Classic FM /Gramophone Artist of the Year, are a testament to her talent and drive.

Andrey Boreyko Leads Hilary Hahn and the LA Phil in Nielsen's Violin Concerto, Now thru 2/2

Conductor Andrey Boreyko returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a dramatic Nordic program tonight and Saturday, January 31 and February 1, at 8 pm, as well as Sunday, February 2, at 2 pm. He is joined by Hilary Hahn, a favorite of LA Phil audiences, playing Danish composer Carl Nielsen's Violin Concerto in its first-ever performances by the LA Phil. Also on the program are the U.S. premiere of Anders Hillborg's King Tide and Sibelius' Symphony No. 2.

With a nod to sounds of Americana, SOPAC serves a heaping of national folk treasures in a robust singer/songwriter concert series. As always, SOPAC welcomes its ongoing Juilliard @ SOPAC classical concert series as well as the Jazz in the LOFT and the Blues in the LOFT series.

As part of its ongoing 15th anniversary season celebrating the best in live music and performance nightly, Joe's Pub at The Public is hosting an open-call for visual artists to submit their sketchbook samples on Tumblr and receive an invitation to draw a live concert tonight, November 19, 7:00 PM featuring indie-rock band Balthrop, Alabama and EMEFE.
