Now in its 37th year, The Rep's production of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, sponsored by MillerCoors, is Milwaukee's beloved holiday tradition which has delighted audiences for generations at The Pabst Theater. Adapted by Joseph Hanreddy and Edward Morgan, Dickens' classic masterpiece brightens the holiday season with its beautiful carols and timeless message of hope, peace and love and the true meaning of the holidays. Milwaukee Repertory Theater is delighted to announce that Aaron Posner returns to The Rep to direct A Christmas Carol. Posner directed The Rep's To Kill a Mockingbird, which broke all-time attendance records last season, as well as the lyrical, beautifully-realized production of My Name is Asher Lev in 2010. This will be the first time that Posner has directed A Christmas Carol. This year's cast includes Milwaukee actors Marti Gobel and Jonathan Wainwright; Rep newcomers Melody Betts, Renata Friedman, Melisa Pereyra, Luigi Sottile and accomplished stage actor Christopher Donahue as Ebenezer Scrooge. Returning to The Rep this year are former Rep Artistic Intern Ensemble members Alexander Pawlowski and Emily Trask and frequent Rep guest artist Jonathan Smoots. Also rounding out the cast are Rep Associate Artists Angela Iannone and Gerard Neugent and Chicago actor Erik Hellman. A Christmas Carol runs at The Pabst Theater from November 29 - December 24.
I must confess that I came to Austin Shakespeare's current production of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE with no prejudices of my own. I've never read the original Jane Austen novel, and I've never seen any of the film versions with the exception of Bridget Jones's Diary, which is very loosely based on the Austen classic. However, prior knowledge of Austen and her work is not needed whatsoever to enjoy this pristine production. Whether you are an Austen fan or are a newcomer like myself, there is much to love about this spectacular show.

As part of the Bicentennial of Jane Austen's great novel, a production of "Pride and Prejudice" will be staged at the ADOBE Theater starting Sept. 14th. This brilliant adaptation tells of the Bennet family that hopes to arrange profitable marriages for their five daughters. Leslee Richards (who previously directed the excellent "Rabbit Hole" and "Talley's Folly") selected this acclaimed play (by Joseph Hanreddy and J. R. Sullivan) for her next project, assisted by choreographer Judith Chazin-Bennahum for some lively dances. A large cast in period costumes will perform the play that will run through Oct. 7. Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy have a date with destiny-and South Coast Repertory-in the season-opening production of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, closing Oct. 9 on the Segerstrom Stage.
One of the most beloved novels of all time, Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE has so consistently resonated with readers since its first publication in 1813 that it has spawned a plethora of dramatic adaptations on several different mediums. Continuing the trend is South Coast Repertory, now running an enjoyable new stage production continuing through October 9. This brisk, high-tech, yet faithful stage adaptation imagines the story coming to life before the eyes of a young teenager observing the drama.
