Due to overwhelming demand, Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Charles Newell, Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, and Executive Director Angel Ysaguirre, announces the extension of August Wilson's Radio Golf, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. Radio Golf now runs through October 6, 2018, at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave.

Vitale Artistic Director, and Executive Director Angel Ysaguirre, opens its 2018/19 season with August Wilson's Radio Golf, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. Radio Golf runs August 30 - September 30, 2018 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave. The press opening is Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 7:30pm.

August Wilson is considered not only one of the greatest of African American playwrights, but of all theatrical writers. His themes of self-identity, racism, loyalty, religion, deception, love, gentrification and historical verification form the centerpiece of his well-received 'Century Cycle' about black life in Pittsburgh.

To Celebrate Black History Month Ensemble will produce August Wilson's Radio Golf. The final installment of his ten play American Century Cycle, this fast-paced, dynamic and wonderfully funny work is about the world today and the dreams we have for the future. Set in Pittsburgh in the late 1990's, it's the story of a successful entrepreneur who aspires to become the city's first black mayor. But when the past begins to catch up with him, secrets get revealed that could be his undoing.  

It will be your loss to miss this incredible show with a top-flight cast that nails every word, every pause, every moment. RADIO GOLF is a spellbinding experience.

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. The seven-week Celebration takes place in March and April 2015 on dual landmark occasions: the 70th anniversary of the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright's birth and the 10th anniversary of his death.

David Hemphill's production of August Wilson's Radio Golf needs some work on a script that may be the least impressive of August Wilson's epic decalogy of black life in America, the Pittsburgh Cycle. If there are bright spots in the show, they are in the performances of T.A. Burrows and Roosevelt Watts. Both have infectious comic sensibilities and a firm command of their place on the stage.

The Nuyorican Poets Cafe's 40th anniversary season continues with the world premiere of Wesley Brown's play Dark Meat on a Funny Mind, which stars Tony nominee Anthony Chisholm as legendary comedian Richard Pryor. In Dark Meat, Pryor and his mischievous alter ego (played by actress Trish McCall) revisit the characters who shaped his life and inspired his career. The result is hilarious, surprising and memorable. A. Dean Irby directs the production, which opens today, July 31 and runs through August 24.

While 'Lee Daniels' The Butler' is generating Oscar buzz for its chronicle of several decades of African- American political life, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson masterfully documented a full century of the African-American experience in the 10 plays the make up the American Century Cycle. These works, nine of which have been staged on Broadway with stars including Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Charles Dutton, among many others, showed the suffering, joys, and triumphs of African-Americans through searing, poetic and personal stories of everyday people in Pittsburgh, PA.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is pleased to produce a reading of August Wilson's Radio Golf in support of Penumbra Theatre Company in St. Paul, Minnesota. The reading will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 24 in the Angus Bowmer Theatre as part of OSF's Juneteenth Celebration.
