Following on the success of last year's Western Canada Box Set of 'home delivery theatre', Boca Del Lupo is working with 6 prominent theatre companies across Canada to commission 16 talented playwrights to create 4 new PLAYS2PERFORM@HOME box sets representing the Prairies, Ontario, Quebec and Eastern Canada.

Show Choir - The Musical premieres in Canada tonight, April 30, 2016 featuring the Winnipeg Studio Theatre Adult Ensemble. The performance will take place at 8:00pm CDT for one night only at The Met Entertainment Centre- 281 Donald Street in Winnipeg, MB Canada. The 2013 Dora Awards took place in Toronto on Monday June 25th at The St Lawrence Centre for the Arts. To accommodate demand, the Bluma theatre was also opened up for guests and the awards were live-streamed via 'Doratron'. As in previous years, there was a glamorous VIP ceremony pre-show followed by a post show street party that closed down Front Street. A record number of Doras were given out, with Young People's Theatre's CINDERELLA the runaway hit of the evening with seven awards. BWW is thrilled readers photos from the evening.

For the first time in two years, Theatre 20 opens its doors for submissions of new musical works. The company is looking for musicals both finished and in development. It is through this process that Theatre 20 discovered Joseph Aragon and their inaugural production, Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare.

Angelwalk Theatre in association with Winnipeg Studio Theatre are presenting the Canadian premiere of Adam Gwon's musical ORDINARY DAYS. After a successful run in Winnipeg the show has opened at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. With a terrific cast and excellent musical direction this should be on your must-see list!

Ordinary Days is kicking off Angelwalk Theatre's 2012-2013 Season at The Toronto Centre for the Arts. The show features four of Canada's brightest up and coming musical theatre talents, and BWW sat down to speak with three of them about their best and worst romantic movie and stage choices.

Colm Wilkinson is having an exciting year. He's one of the founding artists of Theatre 20, he will be appearing in the much anticipated feature film version of Les Miserables and he's about to embark on a Christmas tour entitled Christmas, Broadway and Beyond. Featuring Christmas tunes as well as favourites from his solo albums, Colm will be dazzling audiences throughout Canada over the holiday season. BWW caught up with him recently to talk about the new show, as well as passing the Jean Valjean torch to Hugh Jackman.

Bloodless: The Trial of Burke and Hare is the first offering from Theatre 20, a brand new Canadian theatre company with a goal to foster the development of new Canadian musicals. Written by Winnipeg playwright Joseph Aragon, the show tells the true story of the West Port murders in Edinburgh in 1829. With a solid cast and some great original music, the show is a brave first choice for Theatre 20.

The 2012-2013 Mirvish Production season announcement took place this morning, and features the World Premiere of Jason Robert Brown's Honeymoon in Vegas, an all-Canadian cast for Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's The Wizard of Oz and the smash-hit Book of Mormon. Members of the media, subscribers and eager theatre lovers filled the Ed Mirvish Theatre to hear the announcement, which also included La Cage Aux Folles, Sister Act and Backbeat plus the pre-Broadway run of Flashdance and the directorial debut of Colm Wilkinson in Bloodless.

Theatre 20 announced an exciting inaugural season in a star-studded event this past Monday, January 23rd at Toronto's National Club. Legendary musical theatre performer (and Toronto native son) Colm Wilkinson will make his directorial debut with Bloodless: The Story of Burke and Hare, Theatre 20 will partner with Sheridan College for a production of UK Fringe hit Raindogs and finally, Adam Brazier will direct a re-imagining of Stephen Sondheim's hit Company.
