The award-winning film KULEANA announced today that its opening weekend saw near sell out audiences statewide and will be held over in Hawaii and Guam and will add screens at Regal Cinemas on Oahu including Windward, Kapolei Commons and Pearl Highlands. KULEANA has proven itself a mainstream competitor to other Hollywood films in theaters now. Produced entirely in Hawaii, KULEANA has received the Audience Choice Award in the Santa Cruz Film Festival, the Maui Film Festival, and the San Antonio Film Festival, as well as "Best of Fest" in the Guam International Film Festival. On Saturday, April 28 at 9:00 p.m., three-time Grammy Award-winning bassist John Patituccileads his world-class electric guitar quartet in an evening of blues, funk, jazz, and soul in Zankel Hall. Patitucci is joined by guitarists Adam Rogers and Steve Cardenas, and drummerBrian Blade performing tracks from the group's critically-acclaimed debut recording Brooklyn, an album inspired by the vibrant, eclectic borough where Patitucci was born and raised. 

The New School Glass Box Theater welcomes pianist Andy Milne to our stage. Milne is a master arranger and bandleader, well known for his acclaimed group Dapp Theory and his work with saxophonist Steve Coleman, and with actor William Shatner. In this intimate concert, Milne will perform an entirely improvised solo set.

Shawn Phillips, one of music's most daring, influential and enigmatic figures, has an announced the release of his new album, Continuance, via Tunecore Distribution. The record – Phillips' 26th solo effort – sees the genre-bending singer-songwriter and virtuoso guitarist, who was once described by Bill Graham as “the best-kept secret in the music business,” mixing hard rock, blues, funk, jazz, classical and New Age into an enthralling, singular style of expression.

Mary Fahl, Formerly of October Project, Returns to Evening Muse in Charlotte in April

New York City organist/pianist, Brian Charette, has established himself as a leading voice in modern Jazz. Charette is a Grammy-nominated, Hammond-endorsed artist who was the winner of the 2014 Downbeat Critics' Poll Rising Star: Organ award and has climbed to 4th place in The Critic's Poll main organ category. In 2015 Brian also won The Hot House Magazine's Fan's Decision Jazz Award for Best Organist in New York. His last Positone Records recording, Once and Future, reached #17 on the Jazz Week chart and was also on the iTunes new music Top 20. This Summer, Brian just released his new Circuit Bent Organ trio recording, Kurrent, and featuring Ben Monder.  Groovin' With Big G on Steeplechase Records release date is March 15. The CD features legendary saxophonist George Coleman, guitarist Vic Juris and drummer George Coleman Jr.

Since the release of his 2004 critically acclaimed CD When I Fall In Love, Chris Botti has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist. His success has crossed over to audiences usually reserved for pop music and his ongoing association with PBS has led to four #1 jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold, Platinum and Grammy Awards. Most recently, his latest album Impressions won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album at the 2013 55th Grammy Awards. Performing worldwide and selling more than four million albums, he has found a form of creative expression that begins in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre.

The show, aptly titled 'The Story Goes On,' featured an eclectic set list, but there was one common thread - each song was exceptionally well sung.

Chilina Kennedy, who stars as Carole King in the Broadway hit Beautiful: The Carole King Musical at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre in New York City, joined with Christie's to announce the sale of Carole King's piano which will take place on April 20, 2018 11am at The Exceptional Sale. King, one of the most prolific women singer/songwriters of our time, used this 1924 model "M' Steinway piano to compose numerous hits, including "Sweet Seasons" and Been to Canaan" and it is pictured on the cover of two of her best-selling 1970's albums, "Music" and "Sweet Seasons". The piano is estimated at $40,000 and it will be on view to the public from April 12-20 at Christie's Rockefeller Galleries.

Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College continues its 2017-18 Kumble Theater season with jazz singer/songwriter Alicia Olatuja. Drawing from a wide range of musical influence including classical, R&B, soul, and gospel, this Brooklyn resident brings her scintillating jazz stylings to Brooklyn's Kumble Theater, including a preview of selections from her yet-to-be-released second album, Intuition: Songs from the Minds of Women.
