WorkShop Theater Co Presents TARTUFFE, Previews 1/13/2011

The WorkShop Theater Company's Classical Theatre Wing, Charles E. Gerber, Director, Scott C. Sickles, Artistic Director and David M. Mead, Managing Director are please to announce it production of a Moliere's TARTUFFE, in a new translation by Paul Weidner, former Artistic Director of Hartford Stage, directed by Charles E. Gerber and featuring Bill Tatum, Ellen Dolan (As The World Turns), Gerrianne Raphael (Man of La Mancha) and television veteran Noah Keen (Twilight Zone and Mission Impossible ) and Charles E. Gerber as Tartuffe.

Theater for the New City will end its run of 'Stops Along the Road,' a new play written by Walter Corwin and directed by Jonathan Weber on April 11, 2010. This is the first time sets for a play by Walter Corwin will be designed by his son, William, who is a visual artist of emerging prominence. The production attempts to capture the confusion of our contemporary political mindset through direct symbolism and the play's own complex, refractive three-act structure in which each act is a different play-within-a-play.

LAUGH, DAMN YA, LAUGH! Opens At Theater For The New City

Theater for the New City Presents Laugh, Damn Ya, Laugh! Written by Walter Corwin, Directed by Jonathan Weber, from February 5 to February 21, 2009. Playing off Greek tragedy, Laugh, Damn Ya, Laugh! is a comedy about the difficulty of finding humor in today's world. Sam, the head producer of comedy for a major network, is responsible for lightening the despair of the masses. All his attempts fail until his secretary invites an unknown actor from off-off Broadway, whose skits touch Sam and his co-workers. But they are unable to translate their new sensitivity into humor. Wiser, but at his wit's end, Sam, with the prodding of his wife, asks for the impossible. The Gods ? New York's own ? respond! The cast features Tony King as Sam, Danielle Suder as his Wife, Jessica Day as Sybil, his Associate Producer, Samantha Mason as his Secretary, and Oliver Thrun as Jack, the Actor. Walter Corwin has had many plays presented at the Theater for the New City and is on the staff. His play Gum was performed at the PublicTheater. His works have been performed in the La MaMa Experiments Series.
