Ashley Brown, Broadway's original MARY POPPINS, returned to the company yesterday, March 8, at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Brown assumes the title role through Sunday, July 17 (Laura Michelle Kelly, currently playing the role, will take a brief hiatus for a film project, returning to the show on Tuesday, July 19). Brown reunites with her original Broadway ‘Bert,' co-star Gavin Lee, having last performed with him when they launched and headlined the MARY POPPINS North American tour. Confirmed! Disney's Aladdin to Play Seattle's 5th Avenue in July 2011

BroadwayWorld.com's Seattle sources have exclusively confirmed for us that Disney's Aladdin will indeed open at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre in July of 2011. The stage production will feature all the songs from the film as well as restored songs from early drafts of the score.

MARY POPPINS, Broadway's perfectly magical musical, is pleased to welcome all new Banks children to the Broadway cast: alternating the role of Jane Banks is Catherine Missal, Rachel Resheff and Rozi Baker; alternating the role of Michael Banks is Christopher Flaim, David Gabriel Lerner and Ethan Haberfield (Missal and Flaim began performances on Tuesday, May 18; Resheff and Lerner began on Tuesday, May 25; Baker and Haberfield will begin on Friday, June 4). Flaim, Lerner and Haberfield will mark their official Broadway debut with the production.

John Tartaglia Joins the NYC Pops for THE POLAR EXPRESS Holiday Concert, 12/19

According to reports from Carnegie Hall, Tony nominee and Avenue Q alum John Tartaglia will narrate the holiday children's classic The Polar Express in concert with the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall this season. The production will take place in Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage on Saturday, December 19 at 2pm. The concert features a score by Alan Silvestri, who also wrote the music for the 2004 feature film adaptation of the event.

Broadway's perfectly magical musical MARY POPPINS is pleased to welcome JONATHAN FREEMAN to the company as Admiral Boom and Bank Chairman on Saturday, December 12 (2pm matinee). Produced by Thomas Schumacher of Disney Theatrical Productions and Cameron Mackintosh, MARY POPPINS performs at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd Street).

Review - The Little Mermaid: Sue Me, I Liked It

Although I was set to see The Little Mermaid shortly after its opening, an actor's absence due to illness resulted in the rescheduling of many press seats to later dates, which is why I'm posting this a good two and a half weeks after the big night. Live theatre, kiddies.
